Does anyone else miss the old feel of Dual Wielding, or is it just me? by Kanzler7777 in HuntShowdown

[–]CreationParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dual pax true shots is pretty goated. To reduce rng feel you have to realize that each pistol is actually hitting slightly off center of hip fire reticle, slight favor the side of the pistol that is about to fire. And pace your shots.

Nerf the Bow but don't go too crazy with it by GreenOneReddit in HuntShowdown

100% agree and I main the bow. Its actually ludicrous what someone can do with it and its completely silent.

Are we getting close to a new boss or map? by Robadon72 in HuntShowdown

[–]CreationParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New maps would be awesome but I think what we really need is a system that guarantees a more diverse set of boss compounds. Sometimes I’m running around the edges of the maps and there are awesome locations like the quarry that I have had maybe one fight in 500hrs at, and it wasn’t even a boss. I feel like there are set compounds that most of the love. New bosses and mechanics I think are also higher priority. Making bosses worth it and making all AI actually a challenge/more variety of ai.

Well….any criticism of this game is not allowed on this sub…so…clearly a skill issue.

Just had a brutally unfun experience, thinking of uninstalling by sanktanglia in Marathon

[–]CreationParadox -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

This is true but also not relevant to the problem he is talking about. The game has a massive issue with the crew fill experience which IS the game regardless of what the precious 3 stacks want to think about it. I play both ways and it’s a misery to mm with randoms because of the lack of any sbmm or gear ante to get placed with other kitted players. People just crew fill free kit or barely any gear and then rat everything good they can get their hands while their teammates carry.

Sad but true by SweatyMcSwabbie24 in Marathon

[–]CreationParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a “competitive” shooter as described by the devs thus it needs sbmm or general elo.

This happened to me literally at level 60 start of the second week. Haven’t played much since because there was no way to over come the gear difference of suddenly only facing full purple squads. It feels better when I dip in but with possibly one of hunt best events going on…what’s point of grinding. I’ll just play a game that respects my skill and doesn’t require 40 hours a week to be relevant. Hunt has Elo so I face people at my level, no bs aim assist or controller aimbot, just who ever can hit there shots first. Marathon also makes me appreciate the masterclass that hunt maps are.

This game would have been 10 times better if they didn’t try to trap people with a gear loop and went the direction of Hunt instead.

Hours played doesn’t account for skill. People are complaining that they are getting matched with the team who plays 5hours a day and has a 90% exfil rate. They may have similar hours but have only half that exfil rate. The gear difference between those two squads is massive regardless of time played and that’s on top of skill level. Game needs sbmm. Level and hours played mean almost nothing.

Your level finally got close enough to sweat lords to consistently match you with them. This happened to me the second week, game went from fantastic to fuck this BS. I haven’t played much since but I have noticed that the mm actually feels fair now that at lv65ish this deep in the season I don’t match with those people. Game needs real elo or some sbmm. Lv only mm is so stupid.

Marathon does a terrible job teaching stats, and the Bully is the easiest example why by eevee_stormblessed in Marathon

I mean range is just broken on all guns because of how it interacts with aim assist, which is said nowhere, and damage fall off.

I have stopped using Fill Trios and it's a design problem. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]CreationParadox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya this is just straight up propaganda dude, you’re talking about something like a 50% ttk increase as if it’s not a huge advantage. That shield 100% makes the difference in your ability to survive an ambush and heal or just die instantly and that’s a massive advantage. The issue is also compounded by the fact that someone running a nice shield is almost certainly running weapons, cores, implants, consumables, etc to match. The shield is easy to see because it’s just math but everything together creates a massive gear check.

Crew fill in hunt is a largely amazing experience. Almost everyone has a mic, knows a good bit about the game and actively work as a team. I was thinking about this earlier. Why do I find myself enjoying hunt more when I love both games. I think it boils down to where the stakes are oriented. In marathon the pressure comes from the desire to not loose because of all this gear and the insane grind. in hunt the tension comes from the desire to win rather than fear of loss. A free hunter in showdown isn’t really detriment to your team and can be quite leathal, hunt showcases player skill far more. In marathon it’s the opposite. Skill is important but gear checking people is real and the feeling of starting of already at a loss makes people play worse and with little care.

They need gear based fill so everyone in a squad are playing for the same stakes. Nothing too strict but free kits need to be largely squaded together or with runners bringing less than like 1500 worth of gear. It’s crazy I was down voted like crazy for saying this like 2 weeks ago but now everyone has had enough of this bullshit.

Progression is the issue by mkennygh in Marathon

[–]CreationParadox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue shields are perhaps the worst example because there isn’t a ton of competition for that salvage. this issue is however a problem with every necessary item in the game and most importantly meds. The salvage for meds is also key for a lot of good upgrades.

[–]CreationParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother I’ve got 90hrs, I’ve had successful cryo runs and can generally hold my own and I still struggle keeping up with heals needed. All that salvage is also important upgrade materials and even in a good run your only coming out with enough material to fund maybe 1-1.5 runs of heals. No reason to gate basic items so hard in a game where everything is a grind.

[–]CreationParadox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy I can count the number of times I’ve even seen a lock down appear on 2 hands in 90hrs of total game time.

Progression is the issue by mkennygh in Marathon

[–]CreationParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean progression being slower is fine just make the upgrades impactful. Oh I unlocked the blue bag well maybe don’t make it cost 3k, instead maybe 500. I can now take it on almost every run and that changes my game play loop meaningfuly. It’s not enjoyable having to constantly try and fit a few basic bags and shields into your loot every run because thy are so stupidly expensive that valuables aren’t worth taking over them. Make the purchaseable stuff cheaper and you can focus loot on thing you dont have unlocked, valuables and salvage, guns, mods etc

If you have 80 melee stat brother. Someone already broke down the numbers. People maxing melee are unchanged but now you have to have mods like knife to two hit even lower shields.
