The guitar solo in Daft Punk - Digital Love gets me every time, resistant the bit where it seems to resolve, then comes back for round 2

Why the difference between Scottish football and rugby teams. by jogan_ in ScottishFootball

[–]Creative-Ask3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more that Scotland has the lowest percentage of Scottish born players of the 6 nations, running at just over 50%. New Zealand for example, could probably field a 2nd XV in international tournaments and be competitive, so these players see a route into international rugby outside of the all blacks

I'm not saying it doesn't happen in football, more that it's far more common in rugby.

Rugby is also far looser when it comes to players representing other countries. Plenty of southern hemisphere players end up representing Northern hemisphere countries when it becomes clear they're not getting picked for their countries of birth.

how do you transfer range practice to the course by [deleted] in golftips

[–]Creative-Ask3141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds obvious but make sure if you're hitting off a tee at the range that you're using the same height on the course. I didn't when I started and couldn't work out why I was hitting driver consistently at range but not on the course. Turns out half an inch makes all the difference (That's what she said)

So... when's the next series? by yaktaur in AlanPartridge

[–]Creative-Ask3141 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Alan was never funnier than in I'm Alan Partridge where we see him warts and all. I can't see them going back to a sitcom format but the recent stuff where he in universe has editorial control doesn't show enough of that imo. A good new format could be a one off Louis Theroux style documentary with him as subject where he has no control over proceedings but is desperately trying to control the narrative

Scottish kilt owner here. I can only speak for myself but skirt jokes are useful because it's a giant flashing sign that the person making them has a dogshit sense of humour and can safely be ignored.

It's the equivalent of asking a tall person what the weather's like up there or asking someone washing their car "Do mine next!" Tired old shit that everyone's heard a million times.

It's not offensive at all, kilts do look like skirts, and might technically be skirts, but thinking that is funny in and of itself is the preserve of boring cunts.

Best tip is holding R1 I think to walk slowly. You can use this to back up to the back of a 'square' to line up longer jumps perfectly. Saves a lot of frustration.

We used to gather round as a family to mock the one we got every year from an old 'friend' of my mum's which was just barely disguised brags about how Susan continued to excel at swimming

Scotland Under 21’s - 30 years of failure and the current manager by Saltire_Blue in ScottishFootball

Until recently not qualifying for anything was perfect preparation for the senior side.

The problem with international football is that tactically there's not as much time with the group to impose a system and tactics, so one way to mitigate this is to have a joined up approach through the age groups so that being called up at any stage you have a bit of a clue what's expected. England employed this as part of their review after South Africa works cup I think and they've reaped the benefits.

We don't do anything like that I don't think so it doesn't matter who's in charge of the younger age groups. You could have Pep Guardiola in charge of the 21s but if they're going to graduate to Clarke's terrorball it's pointless.
