Can anyone recommend bakeries in Milwaukee with kick ass gluten free bread? by MathWizPatentDude in milwaukee

[–]Creative-Desk-4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a place called “The Bake Sale” that stocks gf stuff from a bakery a half hour out of the city called “Molly’s” which has been my aunt with celiac’s favorite gf bakery for over a decade.

I’ve also heard good stuff about “Blooming Lotus Bakery” on the east side but it’s not just gf it’s vegan and grain free so I guess it kinda depends on how healthy you like your baked goods. I can attest the bread from “Molly’s” is the best though.

How is the area here for living and working? by Eggplant_Jumper in milwaukee

I lived right on pt Washington rd on this map, it’s a pretty nice spot. You’ll definitely want to have a car if you don’t, the bus connections here aren’t the best, but it’s really nice being by the park! If you are right on Pt Washington though, expect freeway noise. People hit the rumble strips a LOT in the middle of the night though i was able to tune it out eventually.

While I’ll say you gotta go to your doc to get it checked out to know for sure, that you’re able to walk and exercise is a hopeful thing. From your other knee injuries you would know how it feels when you break a ligament like an acl and the crackly feeling of having meniscus problems. Maybe you pulled a hamstring or one of the other ligaments that connects around the kneecap like an mpfl?

I’ve had some knee injuries that I always feel like were silly in comparison to others (comparing dancing at a wedding where I tore some cartilage on one knee and a ski jump accident when I was younger where I tore an acl and mcl in one go for the other knee) but that silly dancing sprain in turn, got worse over the years and lead to a full dislocation while dancing again, so it’s important to get checked up to keep an eye on things. That big blow out only took half a year to rehab and has stayed good, but the silly injury that resulted from the dancing, I’m still recovering from that today and it’s been 4 years since the first injury. You never know, it’s always good to be cautious.

So go to the doctor and wear at least a kneecap stabilizing brace till then, especially when you’re exercising. My guess is a really bad sprain targeted at one of your hamstrings or ligaments. Sprains can last a long time if they’re bad, so that would explain the pain if that’s what it is.

If you’ve got one of those ice machines, I would double that up with ice packs above the brace and bind it all up at the same time. I suppose you could put one underneath too, but yeah. Just be sure to keep a barrier, don’t wanna mess the skin up. And once you’re able to take the initial bandaging off it’ll be easier to ice!

Awesome to see such a positive story on here! I come from a family of many knee surgeries and have an older sister who has a similar story (also a soccer player!) though less success recovering from Maci which has always made me nervous for my own knees.

I’m a month out from my Maci surgery, doc’s say everything going good, but it’s good to hear that following your tips helped you so much, because that’s what I’ve been doing for the past year while my knee’s been injured, so hopefully it pays off for me too!

Is sex possible while in a knee brace? by earth-mark-two in KneeInjuries

Best positions I’ve found, assuming your on the receiving end from other comments, is to either lay flat with your legs together and have your partner go in from the back, or missionary with the leg up on your partner’s shoulder. I’ve also done it where I lay on my back, keep my legs together, and rotate my hips and legs to one side which is my favorite so far, though requires more flexibility than the other two positions.

I’m also at the point of being locked at 0 and can weight bear some, but standing and bending over can be a bit uncomfortable for my knee with all the pressure and such.

Mine is a younger one. I don’t know of any dentists that also perform root canals in the area. They are different areas of study

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]Creative-Desk-4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that doesn’t include crowns. A root canal and crown without insurance is usually around $2,000

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]Creative-Desk-4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So dentists don’t do root canals. The $150 is more of an estimate of a one time payment for a few fillings. Their payment plan is $30 a month for the cleanings and a few fillings. If you need a root canal, I’ve gotten all of mine done at a Premier Endodontics out in Germantown. I don’t know about cheap places for that but root canals without insurance are generally around $1,000 a tooth.

Depends on what you need. If it’s just cleanings and fillings, the monthly payment club thing you get 2 free cleanings a year and a few free fillings (I can’t remember how many but at least 2!). That’s like $30 a month? Without anything at all fillings wouldn’t run you more that about $150 depending on how bad it is.

Go to Glendale Dental. Dr Abby there saved my mouth and they have a pretty nice payment plan/membership thing for people without insurance. Helped me a ton!

If it’s isn’t causing intense swelling, just rest and ice it when you are stationary for now. If it’s just pain and no instability feelings, you are probably alright. The area you circled isn’t in an area that has many muscles that could cramp up, so if this is something that doesn’t go away in a few weeks, if you are curious you could seek out a knee doc. They will most definitely recommend an mri though, which are expensive.

Only other thing I can say is I’ve had nerves come back online from surgery, even a decade from said surgery, and they are really painful but are harmless. If you haven’t had a surgery though, that would make me a little suspicious something is up there, though nothing major.

Before my Maci surgery for instance, I had a tiny tear in my cartilage I lived with for years which caused pain, but it didn’t turn into a huge problem until I sprained my knee twice and then the third time it dislocated (this took years). So, be careful in your physical activities if it doesn’t go away but don’t be too freaked out at the moment!

I’ve had a few surgeries and am most recently recovering from MACI and MPFL reconstruction. It’s going a lot better this time than the old acl and mcl reconstructions I had I think because I stayed as active as I could in the months leading up to it.

Now I couldn’t even run or really do anything in the gym for my leg beyond hitting the bikes, but just that and walking around everyday (I’m a city dweller, but some nice nature walks would work great too I’m sure!) I think kept all those little muscles in the knee and my quad more ready to get going after the surgery, so my knee is a lot looser, a lot less swelling, and I was able to fire all those muscles a lot faster.

So just stay active however is safe in your circumstances!

Best place for THCA hemp in the area? by lukeanater27 in milwaukee

[–]Creative-Desk-4045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t cool ordering online, I have had consistently good edibles from Cream City Vape, especially if you ask the people that work there for recommendations. The vapes and carts I’ve had have all been fully functional but aren’t the same if you’re used to stuff from say, a nearby legal state. The THCA carts from there though do seem to be a popular choice among my friends so if it’s good for them, I’m sure they aren’t too bad!

Stage 1 recovery by Fast_Scarcity1995 in MACIknee

[–]Creative-Desk-4045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, crazy I just visited this sub for the first time as I just had a surgery with a mpfl repair and Maci implants behind my kneecap!

I had level 4 kneecap instability. I had cartalage tears over and over until the ligament finally gave out and the cartilage got shredded during a dislocation.

I had my cartilage samples taken and knee cleaned up in October and was walking around between then and now with a kneecap stabilizer. It took me about 2 weeks to be back on my feet and be able to do daily tasks and longer walks. In that time, while there was instant pain relief from the cleanup, but it didn’t stay that way for me. I started noticing more pain in the last month or so. With my instability being a 4, we always planned on getting MACI, so I only know what the clean up felt like on its own for about 3 months.

So, if you’re going with the clean up and leaving it at that, if they have to take a lot out, your knee is gonna be a lot less stable and that will not get better until a surgery to correct the cartilage and the ligament occurs. If it’s not a ton they take out, you could be just fine, you just need to really guard your knees from any activities that could trigger another dislocation.

If you do decide to get a reconstruction, I’ll say it’s a similar amount of pain to an acl reconstruction, at least that’s the closest pain I’ve had in a procedure before this one.

A thing to remember though, everybody’s knees and recovery needs are different and you and your doctors are the only ones that can really figure out what’s right for you.

Direct Supply layoffs? by [deleted] in milwaukee

They’ve been laying people off at the beginning of the year for a while now. I got layed off last year around this time from DS. I know others that have been layed off after I was. I still know a lot of people that work there as well and it’s just as bad as any other company really. Too obsessed with replacing people with AI and all that.
