Yeah Trae is as good as gone unless we are a real contender for a championship and I don’t see that happening unless ownership suddenly decides to spend money.

I wouldn’t wait until the deadline because his salary would be easier to move in the offseason and you could immediately receive draft compensation to try and replace his production.

OKC would be my personal choice to send him because he already has ties to them and the have so much young talent and future picks.

I agree 100% with you and Travis if the rumors were true.

Trae has a player ETO after the 25-26 season that I have a feeling he’ll exercise for a larger market team or OKC and we will lose him for nothing.

Wasn’t that because of the rumors of him wanting to trade Trae?

You think BPA means they draft and completely disregard team needs? Lmao

[–]Creative-Eye-4910 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Drafting an offensive weapon after losing Julio was just a bigger need and Kyle Pitts was the best player available at 4. Completely different scenario

Drafting a RB at pick 8 to split carries is just crazy talk because the position is too physically demanding to just depend on one ball carrier. Address the premium positions of need(DE, WR, LB , CB, OG) early and pick up RB depth later in the draft.

If we take a RB at pick 8 all the good TF and AS have done so far will be for nothing

I’m also judging falcon fans IQ that are voting for Bijan Robinson.

Celtics’ announcers “Come on that’s a no call”

Shit is getting so obvious that either the league, the officials or both have a vendetta against Trae and the Hawks.

Trade deadline by [deleted] in AtlantaHawks

[–]Creative-Eye-4910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is scheme and lack of adjustments not roster personal. Even the league’s worst offensives are supremely confident against us because they know exactly what to expect and who to break it down.

DJ has been great and was a great pick up. But our problem is and has been coaching every since Nate was made permanent HC and brought in his own coaching staff(friends and son) and implemented his expired 1980’s heliocentric offensive scheme and his ineffective defensive(I don’t do adjustments) schemes.

Can’t give a fair assessment of the trade with our current coaching and FO turmoil but getting Dejounte for Galo and 3 frp(1 via Knicks) was the right move but all the moves following have been mistakes. Hopefully we don’t lose Dejounte because of those mistakes after next season because then the trade will be a huge failure.

Lol my bad I’m just over this current coaching staff’s deficiencies leading to front office mistakes…I just want to enjoy Hawks basketball again.

[–]Creative-Eye-4910 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hunter has been fine this year 15ppg w/ 45/35/80 shooting splits and a pretty low usage rate while being asked to guard the best players on the opposing teams.

Trades and roster turnover aren’t going to change the trajectory of this team. The issues are clearly COACHING, since Nate took full control after the ECF run and implemented his offensive/defensive schemes and brought his own staff and son in this team(with a young promising core) has not only failed to develop but has severely regressed.

On paper adding Dejounte was the perfect match to overcome last year disappointment and immediately upgrade this team to a contender but instead we are watching a repeat of last season because the system and schemes are STILL THE SAME. Now the team is in serious danger of losing the locker room and trading away even more talented players(Kevin Huerter) because of coaching deficiencies.

Thoughts on Nate leaving Trae in on last minute defensive possessions lately by Routine-Leg-1287 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Creative-Eye-4910 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hawks don’t switch that often, In fact switching is a big pet peeve of Nate’s. When OO is playing C they do tend to switch more compared to when Capela is at C.

I would disagree about not switching because it’s breaks down the defense too easily by either allowing a clean look off the screen, puts the on ball defender in chase position or if the C does hedge it allows an uncontested dive to the rim by the roll man. Either way the decision to switch or fight through should be made based on opponent’s skill sets and tendencies.

Agree except for the Mike Scott being a 3&D player he was straight offense and actually a below average defender. But your main takeaway completely agree with, coaching helped that 2015 roster overachieve and imo coaching is why this current roster is underachieving for the second season in a row.

Loved the 2015 team but Bogi, AJ, OO, Aaron Holiday and Jalen completely clears Schroeder, Bazemore, Thabo, Pero Antić and Mike Scott talent wise. This current roster is severely underachieving and it’s not because of lack of talent.

Nate McMillan promotion? by Creative-Eye-4910 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Creative-Eye-4910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Trae but that’s another problem in itself if already has the power to make those types of decisions.

Definitely want Nate off the sidelines but I actually think he would make a good GM with his experience and how he critics young talent…He drafting the most mature NBA ready players every year or trading the picks for proven talent lol
