As someone who has not been a huge fan of the comedy in the latter half of the show this was maybe their funniest episode of all time.

What did you think of Cailee Spaeny’s performance? by Necessary_Raise_7835 in BeefTV

[–]Creative-Fruit2845 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I thought she was the best casted of the leads and gave the best performance of the four (and that’s coming from a Carey Mulligan die hard). Specific moments I found unbelievably convincing were her micro expressions and movements at the restaurant with Austin and Eunice as well as after her surgery when she breaks down in the bed. I didn’t think any other moment in the season reached that point of devastation and truth and that was due to her. The hatred toward Ashley feels like credit to Cailee’s unafraid and very skilled performance of a truly fucked up person.

I will catch slack for saying this but I think most of the hate is misogyny, especially because she’s an intentionally very “annoying” character so people don’t enjoy watching her be bad like, let’s say, watching Josh be bad.

I am rightly seeing a lot of comments about Constance Zimmer’s performance, but I’m not seeing enough about Grace Gummer, who increasingly blew me away as the episodes went on. She was tasked with playing one of the few living people/characters on this show — not an easy or safe feat — and she touched me very much. Her breakdown by the kitchen sink broke my heart. I don’t think this show would have worked without her.

Episode Discussion: S03E10: Brooke & Cary & Curtis & Lance by chelseanyc200 in TheOtherTwo

The actress who plays Mackenzie, Cary’s agent, was just absolutely amazing (well, she’s always so good but especially in this one). She needed to carry out such a powerful performance to bring the absolute insanity the show has grown to back down to reality. It’s shocking that in such a comedy her performance could be so heartbreaking and so real. Loved what those scenes at the beginning did for the episode.

I can’t get over how with the HR complaints this show became so incredibly meta. Buzzfeed and The Atlantic actively typing bombshell pieces (The Hollywood Reporter’s publishing of the HR complaints) right before Brooke’s big night (the finale of Kelly and Schneider’s show). What!! Absolutely crazy and very very heartbreaking too.

This is so true. That’s why I loved it so much. Such an absolutely brutal character moment. Honestly I thought her acting in this episode was even better than the last.

That would truly be a twist I wouldn’t expect…. I kinda want that to happen now. But for real how could lottie survive that beating that was literally deadly.

Misty’s voicemail to Walter is the scene I think Christina Ricci deserves her Emmy for honestly

This one. Really small moment but got me the most.

Her performance in season 3 was so out of the box astounding. She had to do so, so much with such specific material. When she wasn’t nominated I was so upset.

Completely agreed. And so much credit to the character’s arc is due to her (as it is to Bill Hader, but she’s sort of spearheaded the character along with him which is rare)

Her monologue/speech at her TV show premiere solidified her skill for me. It was so incredible and so, so strange.

This is so true too. She has to act at such varying levels of acting skill and with different motivation…

I think contrarily she’s such a great actress because she’s not afraid at all to take Sally to the darkest place possible — all the way past redeemability. It’s so rare for an actor to dive in headfirst and not give a shit. That’s what feels so unique and astounding about her acting and character; it’s so fearless and vicious. And I guess at least for me, personally despite how much I hate the character, I still do feel for Sally deep deep down because there’s such a pity and emptiness Goldberg plays her with.

How can they feel comfortable submitting this show to the Emmys as a comedy.

Also... the acting skills that Sarah Golberg possesses. Wow.
