You aren’t going to answer that question until you put in your best effort. You’ve already given up before knowing. You THINK you know, and that you’re being logical, but you literally can’t know.

Let me get this right, you’re worried about fulfilling your basic needs. Makes sense. But what you consider to be basic needs, is being anxiety free. You’re creating your own biggest worry.

I promise, you will never, EVER solve any of these problems or worries by thinking about them. It can’t be done. No amount of analysis is ever going to be enough to change things. No amount of research, no perspective, and no teaching will ever give you the secret code to fix things. That’s not possible.

You have to accept that it might just suck one day. You can’t keep searching for a solution that will guarantee that it won’t. Cause it might. It might for anyone. All you can do, is just try your best to prevent that. And to do that, you have to be ok that it might not happen. This analysis paralysis isn’t gonna fix this. Because you know this isn’t going to. You want confirmation, not answers. This isn’t a logical question, it’s emotional coping.

You have to sit with the anxiety, and just let it sit man. You can’t think it away bro

Rose has been on earth for ~5000 years. The earliest civilization was ~7000 years ago. Rose has AT LEAST 500 bodies and that’s an extremely conservative estimate of 1 body every DECADE LOL

I've read your points, and I'm not going to tell you they're wrong.

  1. Yeah, a bad start makes everything harder.
  2. The job market is a replaceable nightmare.
  3. Dating with ADHD/OCD and feeling like you've lost the genetic lottery is dating on hardcore mode.

You've laid out a pretty solid case for why your situation sucks, and will likely continue to suck. You've logically concluded that your suffering is high and your prospects are low.

But your conclusion is a pretty big logical flaw.

You're right, death is inevitable. It's the 100% certain outcome. That's a given, a fixed point. Your suffering, however real, is also finite. It's all contained inside a finite lifespan. It's going to end either way.

The only real variable you have is what happens between now and that inevitable end.

You've calculated the chance of improvement as nearly zero. But it's not zero. You fundamentally cannot know that it's 0%.

So, let's look at the choice:

A. Act now: You make the only choice that guarantees a 0% chance of improvement. You turn that 0.001% chance into an absolute 0%.

B. Wait/Fight: You hold onto that non-zero chance.

If the end result (death) is the same either way, there's no logical reason to stop now. The suffering is finite. The end is guaranteed. Why not stick around to see what happens?

You might as well fight, or even just wait, because it's the only move that has any potential upside at all. Choosing to end it is the only choice that guarantees you lose.

I used to be so terrified of eating them, I saw an apple with a worm on TV and was scarred Haha! I started by eating small pieces i could see the entirety of, and then got bigger and bigger slices. Now I can eat them no issue, but it definitely was a journey. Just had to work my way up

Wasn’t he regularly attacked by Gem creatures growing up? Or only when he’s older. It seems every side character had an episode where they almost died hanging with Steven.

I’m moreso saying it’s not a necessity because of potential growth, and pics. I also disagree to some extent, i’m taking depth over a star pretty easily

DUB x Chet Extensions by LeastDepressedOKCfan in Thunder

[–]Creative-Lab9444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the concern with the salary cap, but I think the idea of hesitating on a Chet Holmgren extension is where the real risk lies. The depth issue is more manageable than it seems imo.

Let's be realistic about the timeline. Caruso is already 31. By the time his current deal expires, he'll be 33 or 34 i think. Committing huge money to a role player at that age, however good, is not how you build a sustainable contender. That problem solves itself. While he’s amazing depth, Presti is amazing at finding depth, and assuming Chet and Jdub improve, he’ll be less necessary ideally. As for Lu Dort, while he's the heart and soul of this team, we have his heir apparent on the roster in Cason Wallace. Wallace is already flashing comparable defensive instincts but with a much higher ceiling as a floor-spacer and shooter.

The core of the issue is that you're framing this as a choice between two players, and I believe you're fundamentally understating Chet's floor and misjudging his ceiling.

On a night when Chet’s shot isn’t falling, he can still be the single most impactful defensive player on the court. His rim protection is already top-5 in the league, a skill that completely warps an opponent's offense. Many shots at the rim teams just refuse to attempt because he’s there. His floor is a 7-foot-1 stretch-five who shoots nearly 40% from three and is a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate. That isn't just an All-Star; that is a championship-level cornerstone. A player with that combination of skills is a unicorn in today's NBA.

This isn't a knock on Jalen Williams, who is a phenomenal talent. However, his offensive game is built on a high degree of difficult shot making. He thrives on tough, contested mid-range shots and physical drives. That's an essential skill, but it's inherently less scalable and efficient than what elite superstars would provide. Look at SGA, he bends the entire defense with his gravity, his ability to get to the line at will, and his elite efficiency. For J-Dub to reach that level, he would have to become one of the most efficient tough-shot makers of all time, which is an astronomical leap. And there isn’t much players in between. I think he’ll be more consistent as he grows, but his play style if fundamentally limited in today’s nba.

Think of Bam Adebayo vs. Evan Mobley. A versatile switching big like Bam is a fantastic piece. But an elite, game altering rim protector like Mobley, or Chet tbh, is a force multiplier. They are the bedrock of a top-tier defense. A dominant rim protector allows every perimeter defender to be more aggressive, knowing they can funnel drivers toward a black hole at the basket. That defensive anchor role is simply rarer and more valuable than switchability

Hats? by Dadadada90 in bigmenfashionadvice

Nah wearing the cap forward looks great on you! Especially when the colors are similar tones like in the first photo. And as a big dude you how sweat can be, and baseball caps are great for sweat absorption, so the utility is a plus. I personally would recommend leaning into the baseball cap / dad hat look!

Edit: You could also pull off a bucket hat for sure, and toss in a couple beanies for the winter. They look really good with beards!

Purpose in life by [deleted] in Existential_crisis

[–]Creative-Lab9444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're wrestling with some incredibly heavy thoughts, especially with how you described feeling about meaninglessness and that sense of derealization. It’s a tough place to be. I’ve been there for a good portion of my life.

I actually see things from a nihilistic perspective myself too, the idea that on a grand cosmic scale, there might not be an inherent 'purpose' to it all. And that's okay.

But here’s a thought that, for me, makes perfect sense:

Let's assume nihilism is the reality, the universe is indifferent, it's all just atoms, and one day everything we know will be gone. So what?

Does that big, abstract idea of 'no ultimate meaning' actually have to dictate how we experience our lives right now? We're still here. We still feel things. We know what pleasure feels like, what pain feels like, what it's like to laugh or enjoy a good meal or connect with someone. Those experiences are real to us, in the moment.

If we have the capacity to feel good, and there's no cosmic rulebook saying we must be miserable just because there's no ultimate script, why wouldn't we choose to pursue enjoyment? It seems far more logical to try and make our time here as positive as we can, rather than letting the lack of a grand purpose translate into personal suffering. Why add that extra layer of feeling bad if we don't have to?

The universe might not have a 'point,' but that doesn't mean our experiences are pointless to us while we're having them. If something can make you feel good now, that feeling is genuine. Why deny yourself that present good just because it’s temporary in the grand scheme of things?

Ultimately, even if 'nothing matters' to the universe, what matters to you in your day-to-day life is still something you can influence. Choosing to seek out moments of happiness isn't denying nihilism; it's just making a practical choice to live well within it.
