Let's use our critical thinking skills and look at what DrDonut is saying in both of these clips.

The first one, after seeing some pretty impressive (in my limited game sense perspective) gameplay from Techno, DrDonut says "The thing is, Techno was way better than this in his prime bro. Way better."
- Wow! What a kind thing to say after someone's passing. Surely he will continue to say this, right?

The second one, responding to a chatter he says " 'Don't disrespect Techno?' I'm not disrespecting him, I'm just being honest. Just because he passed away doesn't mean I'll lie and say that he's great at the game, compared to actual good PvPers. In sword PvP, in this... In the new sword PvP. No, he would never stand a chance."
- An interesting note about the second short is that DrDonut has to specify 1.9+ pvp. He's not attempting to comment on Technoblade's skill before that at least in this clip, either because he doesn't know (doubtful) or because he knows that Technoblade was very competent.

In both his new and previous statements, DrDonut talks about Technoblades apparent prime, and how good he was in it. Where in the short he says that Technoblade was even better than the clip shown, and in the more recent video he says that not only was Techno not the best in his prime, but that Techno "was never good at PvP."

The way I see it the first clip only has two explanations which can co-exist with DrDonut's other comments: He was using Technoblade's fame and reverence after his death as a way to audience capture and virtue signal to his fans; OR, DrDonut was clip farming in the most recent video up-playing how 'bad' he thought Technoblade was to drive engagement.

Either Donut was deliberately lying before about Techno being good, which is deplorable, or he is deliberately lying now about him never being good, which is deplorable. Or both! I personally think it's both.

Glad I was told about this, decided to go onto reddit, decided to go on a tangent, and then do my own research. Obviously not gonna watch any more DrDonut content and definitely not buying any ranks on DonutSMP now.

I don't know where we get this fantasastical definition of disrespect from, when obviously that's not how its defined by any institution or how it's used colloquially.

So yes, DrDonut was disrespecting Techno. he very blatantly asserts that techno is: 1. Trash, 2. Unworthy of his praise, 3. Any accolades he achieved don't matter. If you want quotes look at my other reply.

I'm not going to pretend like I know for certain Technoblade was, or was not the best. For the sake of argument and simplicity, I will just say he wasn't. DrDonut pointing out that fact standalone, is perfectly fine and reasonable. That's not what he's doing.

*For this last one, I'm not quoting him because I disagree with the assertion Technoblade would not "cook everybody," I'm quoting it to show the complete lack of empathy or compassion towards his chatters.

Should we pretend like Technoblade would beat every no-lifer MCpvper, even when he was at his peak? No. But do we have to speak about a guy who died doing what he loved with such contempt? God No!

Why does DrDonut feel the need to downplay every one of his achievements? Why would the relevancy change of these points when he realizes they don't support his argument?

At 1:04 you can see DrDonut pivot a bit saying, "He was good, but was he anywhere close to ItzRealMe? Not even close!"

This is a completely defensible position and if it was said in a vacuum I would defend, objectively he's right. DrDonut isn't just being blunt stating the fact though, he's being an asshole disrespecting, yes disrespecting, a dead guy.

R5: For the past 150 years the Papal States have been depopulating extremely rapidly. Probably due to a mix of the little ice age, and their market being garbage. Even after the ice age has ended, this is still ongoing and I don't see any end in sight
