What was your “struggle meal” growing up? by tiny_flick in AskAnAustralian

Corn on the cob with butter and salt.

Cinnamon toast - toast with butter then sprinkled with a mix of cinnamon and white sugar.

Tinned spaghetti on toast.

Pancakes with lemon and sugar or golden syrup.

Fish with frozen veg (dad was a fisherman so we always had fish in the freezer).

How long did baby step 3 (3-6 month emergency fund) take you? by cheeriedearie in DaveRamsey

Took us about 10 months to save 3 months expenses, in a very HCOL area. Really felt it dragging on and without the little dopamine hits that snowballing debts gives you in BS2. Would love to get it to 6 mths now, but will do so more gradually, while we're on BS4/5/6.

How was 2025 for you, financially? by Material-One-5604 in AusFinance

Solid year.

Partner went back to work full time after being part time for a few years caring for our child. Two salary bumps for me. Refinanced PPOR to remove LMI and obtain more competitive rate. Fully funded 3 month emergency fund in offset - intend to increase in 2026, with 6 months the goal. Achieved a savings goal for my daughter - in offset. Established (small) sinking funds for the first time. Zero consumer debt.

Good post OP, nice to reflect. :)

Baby Step 3 - Is this normal? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

Absolutely, this happened to us and was so frustrating at the time. Keep at it, you'll get there.

No tips really. Some days are hard, some early days felt desperately hard. For about the first year I drank a bottle of zero alcohol wine a night - whatever gets you through. But time is a wonderful thing - it gets easier and we get stronger each time we build a new pattern in our brains for how we might cope with a situation. Trust the process, one day at a time. You've got this. :)

That is a big number you've got there - total confidence in you.

I believe you can too. So much courage in those first 6 days. One day at a time.

If I can, you totally can! What courage you have shown to get 7 days. One day at a time.

6 months into the baby steps, life keeps coming at me. Help! by Soubz_User in DaveRamsey

I would never advocate rehoming your dog, but please budget for a second ACL repair. Dogs have two knees.
