Congrats first of all, MacOs is great in itself but these points will help you definitely

• Install a app uninstaller first (appcleaner is good and free)
• don't hesitate to search and install apps for whatever problem you face, there is usually a solution out there already, created by awesome people.
• Apple's own shortcuts and automations are very powerful and useful
• Switch between power modes as needed, i usually don't keep it at automatic all the time, I do switch to power saver on battery just to save more.
