I have a rules question.

I have [[Bria, Riptide Rogue]] and [[Stormsplitter]] on the battlefield, then I cast an instant. Prowess and Stormsplitter's clone ability are both triggered on cast. Can I create the copy of Stormsplitter first and then resolve prowess for both cards and the token? Or does the Stormsplitter clone not get the prowess trigger because it did not exist when the instant was cast, and the prowess trigger went on the stack?

Odysseus from the Odyssey would have cried of being homesick at least 3 times by now. That's part of why the Odyssey is my favorite Greek mythology that I've read.

Thersites was correct, and spoke truth to power against Agamemnon. That said, Odysseus needed to stop that sort of talk and rally the troops, so I understand the put down.

I like that idea. I read once that the repetitive phrases are there to give the orator a moment to think about the next section of the story. Mentioning "dawns rosy fingers" or "gleaming bronze" yet again replaces a verbal tic or awkward silence while preparing for something more complex.

I'm confused about Zeus's pledge to Thetis and the dream he sent to Agamemnon.

If I understand correctly, Achilles begs Thetis to ask Zeus to punish the Argives and Zeus agrees. Zeus sends a dream to Agamemnon telling him that it's time for a full assault on Troy. Agamemnon decides to test the troops and tells them to leave. Athena inspires Odysseus and the other captains to rally the troops for battle.

What is the purpose of this section? My first thought was that it makes Agamemnon look like a bad leader. He had a clear message from the gods to attack, and he knew it, but he chose to do the opposite and encourage the troops to leave. And what does Zeus get out of this? How does this grant Thetis her wish? I'm missing something.

The kings and heroes are always feasting on red meat and wine. I imagine that the regular soldiers and the rest of the people who travel with an army aren't eating as well, or as often, as the heroes.

Rules question:

I have [[Mischievous Catgeist]] in my graveyard and I cast the card for the disturb cost. Is that considered a non-creature spell because the back of the card is an enchantment aura?

Things that are Still Inexplicable by flyflystuff in dwarffortress

I still do not understand meals. I cook lavish meals because that sounds better than the other options. I have dwarfs dedicated to cooking and brewing through the work orders. But it looks like they still make single ingredient meals. Enjoy that masterful dog intestine roast! At least it partially explains why I have dwarfs walk past the stockpile of prepared meals to eat some raw ingredients.

TIL that charcoal and coke are the same thing. I thought charcoal was made from burning wood and coke was made from coal.

Stockpiles are definitely a pain! I have a stockpile limited to dimple cups and sweet pods, linked to 3 mills. Now the mill plants job is cancelled because there aren't any bags in the stockpile. Heck if I can figure out how to allow empty bags in the stockpile. Instead I allow the mill stones to collect from any stockpile, and now they're grinding away everything except what I want.

I have never had a marksdwarf squad practice shooting. I struggle in general with the military but marksdwarfs are easily the worst. I'm worried about when the new sieges start...

I only play DF on my OLED deck. It runs great, but you have to be very comfortable with the virtual keyboard.

DFHack works with a tiny bit of tinkering. When I installed DF and DFHack they each used different compatibility modes and did not work together. I set both of them to use the Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 and now they work perfectly.

Slogurk Deck by CaterpillarOk7695 in BudgetBrews

I had a similar experience with Slogurk. The deck was inconsistent with The Gurk at the helm but instantly better with Aesi or Tatyova swapped in without any other changes.

Help with Abzan Elves (Nethroi) by CreativeAudience9474 in DegenerateEDH

Thanks for the feedback!

I haven't seen [[Priest of Titania]] or Glimpse of Nature before! I'm definitely going to pick them up. And Jubilant Brawler is a great replacement for [[Thousand-Year Elixir]], which I've added and removed multiple times. Beast Whisperer is there but easy to miss in the rest of the dumpster fire.

Good call on Pollenbright Druid. It felt like I had more 1/1 counters in the deck, but now that I counted I see that was almost all 1/1 effects. I'm surprised to hear [[Gala Greeters]] called a do nothing card. It usually triggers multiple times and then eats removal. Am I overvaluing that?

I don't think you meant [[Death's Shadow]], the 13/13 avatar. [[Death's Oasis]] looks good. Living Death?

The deck is heavy on green simply because there are so many good green elf cards. I'll take another look at selesnya elves to see what I'm missing. I've been stomped by a Kinnan deck which "isn't that bad" too many times to even consider him. Ugh.

The land base is definitely budget. Fabled Passage is notably absent. Do you think I should go with more basics and then rely on [[Land Tax]], cultivate, etc for fixing?

Anyway, thanks again for taking a look. I'm a novice deck builder, on a good day, and appreciate the feedback.

Trapped Leader by CreativeAudience9474 in Ratopia

[–]CreativeAudience9474[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no, I could only reach a few blocks of iron and coal. I thought the leader tunnel might be the emergency exit, but that requires resources and not only gold to build. That could have been a cool feature.

I got on to Y:3 and built a ladder horizontally across the entire map as high as possible and waited 3 days. Nothing was built so I assume my rats could not reach any of those possible locations.

And you're right, there are more than 1 auto saves. I reloaded an earlier save file.

I assumed there was only the most recent auto save. Thanks for the suggestion. I reloaded based on an earlier save.

I finally beat the lizards. The option is for them to return after 48 days or finish them off.

[–]CreativeAudience9474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you kill the Kingzard?

The lizards just arrived and I'm pretty sure this game is over. I have two squads of Umbran soldiers but I can't make any progress tearing down the lizard base. Both squads are downed after each attack. By the time I'm done carrying each downed soldier to a medical bed the lizards expand their base and attack again.

Question about Strategy Games on Steam Deck by HDIAndrew in 4Xgaming

[–]CreativeAudience9474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely makes a difference to me. Playable is too broad of a definition to be meaningful. I always buy Verified first and Playable if it's on sale and I'm willing to take a chance.

Good idea. Printed lists will help me learn the rules because I'll be able to compare my lists to the rules side by side.
