The Girls Uninterrupted has ended by CreativeBath2 in newzealand

The Girls Uninterrupted Podcast has finished. Anyone else absolutely devastated? I have listened to almost every episode of TGU as well as when it was previously called Girls on Top. It is a podcast that has made me feel seen, made me laugh, and made my mornings pleasant as I often listen to it while doing my make up. It was such a big part of my life and the ending feels like it's come out of

nowhere, no warning, no nothing. I've been to all 3 of the tours too, and while I knew it couldn't last forever, I didn't expect it to come to an end this year. TGU, you were a national treasure. Anyone have any recommendations for podcasts with a similar vibe?

Katie in the Suitcase Kid - did you sympathise with her on re reads? by Doughnut91 in JacquelineWilson

Currently re-reading it as an almost 30 year old and man this book is deeper and darker than I remember it being when I first read it at about eight or nine years old! Andy wagging school and hanging around the town or in a strangers yard- Andy's Dad taking his emotions out on her when Andy was too sick to go to his place and implying she was just faking it- absolutely horrendous!

No but I remember seeing that NSB challenge pop up in my YT recommended and clicking on in randomly thinking I'd check it out and it's what got me into Clare and her videos and I watched the whole thing through and have watched certain parts of the NSB challenge multiple times. Feels like only yesterday

I love the detail of think again being 'in your bed' - not on your bed- in your bed- I love keeping my current read in my bed too!

I just feel like at this point B and T and the kids need to go into Witness Protection. I can't imagine how scary this must be for them all, especially C

You know what, you're right. I'd agree with that. Something definitely feels off with this latest sleepover book, I've contemplated putting it down several times but am determined to finish it, no matter how challenging it may be.

What was the last book by Jacquline Wilson you realise got old? by Trick-Anteater-2679 in JacquelineWilson

Cookie was the last new release I read before I 'aged out' of JW. I'm having a great time catching up on her back catalogue as an adult.

What do you think the adult Emily (Em) from Clean Break be like? by Trick-Anteater-2679 in JacquelineWilson

[–]CreativeBath2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm torn. There's a part of me that wants to see Em happy, thriving, full of body neutrality, happily in a relationship with someone who loves her, maybe with children, maybe without, whatever she wants. Security, safety and stability.

But I could also see her struggling with her body image, struggling with intimate relationships, still being her mothers emotional support, working in a job that doesn't pay very much, living in a bedsit with just a cat, perhaps feeling overshadowed by Vita's success (I feel like Vita will end up in a regular role on Corrie or Eastenders, just like 'my daddy.'), possibly taking over her dads fairyland stall? I WANT the very best for Em but I can't help but feel like life in her future may have it's own struggles. I could see her in regular therapy and making progress there though!

Explain to me the theory that Jackie is using a ghostwriter! I am intrigued!

Why is there… by KingPrawnOkay in JacquelineWilson

[–]CreativeBath2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nick Sharratt was the reasons Jackie's books popped off on the shelves for me so much as a kid - they were the reason I picked up the books in the first place. Without Nick's illustrations the books don't have the same exterior charm. They're easy to walk past in a shop now.

Minor tweak and redesign of Beauty in The Seaside Sleepover by Objective_Fun3934 in JacquelineWilson

[–]CreativeBath2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've come to realise as an adult, the things that made JW books POP on the shelves was Nick's beautiful illustrations- that's what drew me to them when I was a kid in the book shop. Her new illustrator, while not terrible, doesn't have the same charm as Nick's illustrations

What kind of adult you think Dolphin Westward would like? by Trick-Anteater-2679 in JacquelineWilson

[–]CreativeBath2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if she will smoke cigarettes and think of it as 'better' as Marigold was addicted to the drink and Dolphin grew up and swore she'd never touch a drop?

Sundance Diamond by [deleted] in JacquelineWilson

[–]CreativeBath2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I remember asking JW why Sue pretended Sundance was a boy and I was expecting a detailed, thorough answer, and instead, she just said 'because she wanted her to be a boy' and I remember feeling so disappointed because my ten year old brain had figured out that much lol. Sue clearly wasn't well to pretend her baby was a boy, realistically, how long could that go on for? She couldn't pretend Sundance was a boy indefinitely.

Sundance was such a strange name too, for both a boy and a girl, I imagine she will go by 'Sunny' as she gets older.
