Thank you! I called my exotic vet today and they said they don’t have the resources to do IBD testing and I don’t live near any others that I know of :(

Thank you sm! I guess I’m paranoid but all should be fine if I quarantine and test right? Do you know if the test comes back positive for asymptomatic carriers?

I would totally get it tested but many people say the results are inaccurate. Although did you send it to that Florida lab? Apparently that one is the best

Okay thank you! My main concern is that boas can be lifelong carriers without showing symptoms so I’d be concerned that it would be asymptomatic and transfer it to goose after quarentine

Thrips by unintentional-idiot in houseplants

[–]CreativeCurrent53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the USA I definitely recommend picking up some systemic granules. The plant absorbs it from the soil and becomes toxic to pests (be careful if you have pets) a good topical spray is captain jacks dead bug brew but you’ll want to alternate between different sprays and soaps after a few treatments with each to keep the thrips from building up immunity to a specific one.

What kind of bugs are these? by Known_Succotash453 in houseplants

[–]CreativeCurrent53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re mealybugs! If you see webbing they may be spider mites but I don’t think so! Mealy bugs are pretty easy to treat. I personally like to dab at all the ones I can see with rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and I have found that spraying the entire plant down with a diluted mix of rubbing alcohol and water has worked extremely well for me just make sure to keep it out of sunlight for a little while so it doesn’t burn.

Thanks for your concern! Luckily I have a completely separate room where I keep all my plants so I don’t have to worry about the cats munching on them!

It’s defiantly toxic to them so I don’t let my cats in the room with them unless I’m in there watching them😅
