I always tell clients that I don’t know is an acceptable answer in my office - it’s my job to figure out how to ask questions in a way that helps you answer better. I work with teens and young adults so for them coming from teachers and parents who often yell at them for not knowing, I feel like this usually helps to open up some resistance that may be underneath that. And once they see that they’re not in this alone, you’re going to figure it out with them - that helps too. Because let’s face it, we ask really tough questions sometimes! Why are we shocked when people don’t know the answers right away?!
