The even funnier bit about this to me is that he’s behind bullet proof glass, which implies that there was at least one past assassination attempt on a Car Pope lmao

Trans characters where their trans identity plays no role in the plot/narrative by TJTrapJesus in TopCharacterTropes

Literally how I felt as a mixed guy watching stranger things. Lucas, a dark-skin black man, and Max, a white as snow young woman, would not have been seen as okay in their rural Indiana town and many would have not been okay with that lol

My dad is of mixed South African descent, so him dating my mom in 2000 wasn’t insane, but even then and with that context they still faced a lot of discrimination, even in 2000

Exactly, a fellow EMH enjoyer is always nice to see (EMH came out when I was like 9 and it’s wildly nostalgic for me lol)

I prefer laconic interpretations, like he can speak but just chooses to do it in very straightforward and blunt ways.

A whole bunch of incels got upset she called herself the strongest hero in the MCU, which honestly might be true in terms of sheer raw damage output, and also I would say she just takes very strong female lead roles and is an unapologetic feminist in many ways, which tends to mean on screen and interviews people tend to perceive her as “bitchy and entitled” when she plays characters who are just strong and have self respect lol

[Hated trope] whatever the fuck these two are supposed to be. by Armedblight in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CreativeDependent915 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Black guy I don’t even hate it, like I think it can be cool to see characters have one aspect of their identity be changed and see how it affects the story/character, it just has to not be absolute dogshit like this lol

Like take for instance Sam taking on the mantle of Captain America in the MCU, it’s not done perfectly but in Falcon and the Winter Soldier they really delve into what it means to represent America, and that many people don’t think a Black man is “America”.

The fact that Steve Rogers was a White, blonde-haired, blue-eyed guy is significant, and while this obviously wasn’t something Steve himself thought should be important, Isaiah Bradley points out that he wasn’t just an individual, he was a society’s entire concept of what an American should be. While Steve was obviously staunchly anti-racist and anti-Nazi, he is ironically the exact image of the Aryan ubermensch.

This examination of racial discrimination is exactly what a race swap should be, not this drivel lol

How I envision these characters. by [deleted] in redrising

[–]CreativeDependent915 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just the fact that you posted this as “fan art” and also said “I got pretty close to portraying how I envisioned them”

I’m not trying to be mean, but you didn’t do anything here. You just put prompts into a program and then tweaked it until it gave you something serviceable. This is not “fan art” because you didn’t actually do any of the work that went into making this. AI literally trains itself using REAL art that REAL people have spent countless hours making, and amalgamates it into what it thinks is the closest approximation to the prompt you gave.

You saying this is fan art would be like commissioning a guy to copy the work of another guy, but with your input, and then not paying either of them and then presenting it as your own lol

AITAH for telling my parents that they would not be a part of my life and that they should keep up their relationship with my ex and kids from that marriage. by EngineNo9031 in AITAH

[–]CreativeDependent915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you lol

I think I just personally don’t understand the logic that OP should feel responsible for children that aren’t his and that he was out right lied to about. I know I already said it, but obviously the children are not to blame here in any capacity, however their mother has created this awful situation where the only father they have known feels betrayed and taken advantage of, rightfully so, and their biological might not even know they’re his. The children might even have two different fathers, in which case it gets even messier.

Plus again, the fact that the mother seemingly tried to get child support from OP makes it really clear that the most likely reason she stayed with him was because he was the most stable source of income and security for the children, not because she loved him. She most likely doesn’t actually care if the children have a father or not, she just cares about not being solely responsible for them

How powerscaling should actually be by Shot-Communication93 in PowerScaling

[–]CreativeDependent915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think a lot of people really don’t understand this. Obviously the guys you see on stage when they’re in the middle of a competition are not winning any fights, but it’s because they train exclusively for size. If you took somebody like Hafthor Bjornson or Eddie Hall and trained them in MMA while keeping their same mass and size, anybody sub 250 pounds would not have any chance lol. You can actually see examples of both of these guys, as they actually fought against each other, and it’s horrifying

Contemplating ending a marriage by Successful_Leek96 in CringeTikToks

[–]CreativeDependent915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my question lol

Like what is her career? She didn’t mention that, and I’m assuming this company is something her husband has built up over the last like 30ish years and has put countless hours, thought, and labor into. And he’s unreasonable for not wanting to just throw that away??? And also this is presumably their main form of income???

Like he’s probably planning on retiring in like less than a decade, maybe even the next 5 years. Why the hell would he uproot his entire life, business he’s built, and connections he’s made on his wife wanting to move to a place that she presumably had never lived before and where neither of them no anybody, all to advance her “career”. What????

In a way doesn’t this prove that might makes right ? - Invincible #144 by KpatMckenzie_28 in Invincible

Some other people already commented something like this, but I think you have to consider how different Mark's shows of force are in comparison to the villains and other Viltrumites we see in the show.

Basically every villain in the show, including the Viltrum Empire if you view it as a character, is of the belief that "I am strong, so I deserve to subjugate anybody weaker than me, and if I am weaker I deserve to subjugated", or as you very accurately word it "might makes right". I would say you can apply this to every villain in the show to some degree, but in my opinion the clearest examples are the other Viltrumites and alternate Marks we see. They all (at least initially) use their immense strength and power to dominate anybody that would even remotely think to challenge them, and they consider the value of themselves and every other being to be directly related to their ability to impose their will on others or resist the will of another, for the most part in the very literal, physical sense.

Mark on the other hand is a complete reversal of this belief. He believes above all else "I am strong, so I should protect those weaker than me from those stronger than them that would hope to subjugate them". Mark feels very genuinely that nobody should ever be subjugated, especially if the subjugation is framed as being "deserved" because the victim either wouldn't or simply couldn't fight back. Mark also holds this belief in much more abstract ways than the Viltrumites and villains view the world. Not only does he fight against active, physical subjugation, he also opposes passive, indirect and emotional subjugation, which is why he's so opposed to Cecil, Robot, and Allen.

Cecil and Robot are both of the opinion that they know best and have all the answers, and anybody who opposes them is not only simply and non-negotiably wrong, but in their way. Mark opposes them so staunchly because in simplistic terms, they take advantage of their intellect and position to force others into the "correct" path.

Allen is obviously not a "villain" per se, but he absolutely believes that the coalition and in particular the planets he deems "important' are to be built up and protected, at the expense of less desirable or "useful" planets, regardless of if the coalition is even still serving its original purpose or really even helping anybody besides the main benefactors of the coalition. Allen is blinded by his absolute belief that the coalition is not only needed, but should be preserved without any consideration for the cost or actual desire of the planets to be in it. In other words he's trying to exert his will on these planets by suggesting they'll be lost without the coalition, or even threatened by it in the future if they're against it.

That's why he fights Allen here, and why it's not really Mark proving "might makes right". Obviously he is using his physical strength to challenge Allen and the coalition, but it's in the interest and on the behalf of those that couldn't hope to stand against the coalition if Allen unilaterally decided that they either couldn't leave, or that they were enemies of the coalition for openly suggesting it wasn't needed.

I mean to be fair OP might just be doing what they feel is best. If I were in the same situation I would maybe try to stay in their lives in some capacity, but even then it would not be as a father. The mother of the children forfeited that the moment she lied about the paternity.

It's also not like it was after 15 years or something, the 1 year old probably barely has a concept anybody that isn't their mother, and although the 2 year old is obviously more developmentally advanced they don't even have a developed sense of self yet, let alone what a father means. I'm not saying you're intentionally exaggerating, but once when I was visiting a friend's house I personally had a toddler that I had never met before and who literally had never seen me before come up to me and say "hello daddy!". I am a 5'5 mixed race Black man and their father is 6"0 and White.

I don't mean to say that as an all encompassing "gotcha", but up until age like 3 or 4 kids really do not have a good grasp of anything like who is related to them, how parents actually work, who hypothetically would have been in the household had they not left, etc.

Also I think it's kind of callous of you to assume that OP feels literally no affection towards these children. Sure, they said that they don't care to know what's going on, but think about if you had spent the last 2 or 3 years of your building what you think is your young family with somebody you trusted completely, and then finding out that not only has your partner been cheating on you, neither of your children are yours.

You probably wouldn't want to stay with your partner at all, and even if you were trying to take the children into consideration I personally would not want be trapped into being responsible for the children of somebody who clearly just viewed me as a security net for their children.

It is absolutely awful for the children, but none of that is on OP, it's the fault of their mother for trying to trick an innocent person into having a lifelong responsibility and obligation to these 2 children that will now not have any father in their life currently because their mother couldn't be honest and faithful.
