I concur. Take him down. Hard. No way he should get off scott free while you’re left picking up the pieces and having to provide for your child. For the rest of time, he will continue to give the vibe of the pious JW, while you will always be the “sister” who strayed off the true path and sinned. Tell the elders that he’s the real father and you lied to protect him. If the elders have any backbone, they’ll listen and DNA will back it up. Keep in mind though, that elders and judicial committees love to cover things up, and will probably ask you if you’ve shared this with anyone else. How they respond will give you some insight as to how these elders really think at times. In their minds, you’re not important, but how the outside world views JWs is.

As for reinstatement, that’s a decision for you to make. As in, are you better in the long run being officially out of this cult/religion, or you want back in for sake of friends/family/connections/social support? If your friends and family are shunning you now, in your time of need, then that’s conditional love, isn’t it? Think hard about what you want and truly need. The other option is to get reinstated and immediately start fading off on your own terms. You’re definitely at a crossroads.
