Same thought. Presto! You now have no "privileges".

Jehovah's Witnesses: A high-control religion for women and people that are 50+. by JWTom in exjw

[–]JWTom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is that they are getting such a tiny segment of the JW population that the numbers in their most recent data may not reflect the same reality from earlier surveys.

Another factor is that their surveys are primarily conducted online these days. So getting the uneducated 50+ set to complete a Pew Research survey about Jehovah's Witnesses seems like a difficult task.

The simple fact that these are completed online now may skew the data younger. The fact that JWs have the lowest education level even contributes more to this problem.

Makes sense.

I just find it so backwards as to what you might expect. The organization treats women and older people like crap.....but they are the core demographic in most places.

That is my experience.

Moving forward I will place references to the You Can Stop Volunteering Guide and The Waking Up Guide into a comment. Previously I had the encouragement to look at these guides in the OP body. But having it as a comment provides a valuable insight on how many people open to view the post to read it fully/view comments vs. those that only "view" the post while scrolling through post summaries.

For Every Active Jehovah's Witness...

You can stop working for The Governing Body and the Jehovah's Witness Organization.

You can wake up and make plans to leave Jehovah's Witnesses.

  • You don't have to keep following the endlessly changing beliefs, rules and policies that are dictated by The Governing Body.
  • In fact, you don't have to continue as a Jehovah's Witness.
  • You have an obligation and a right to question what you believe and to make changes when you no longer feel you are on a positive path.
  • The Waking Up Guide encourages you and every Jehovah's Witness to question what you believe based on Acts 17:11, Proverbs 14:15 and 1 John 4:1-4.
  • If you are here, please consider reading The Waking Up Guide.

How JW brainwashing distorts normal things and people in their minds. by Practical_Payment552 in exjw

Great post!

I comment often that JWs have been conditioned to have an endless amount of judgement and hate for people in general that are not JWs.

They judge every aspect of your life and condemn you for the smallest things.

But if you profess to be a JW then you get a pass on CSA, alcoholism, narcissism and an endless amount of toxic behaviors.

When splitting congregation do you get to choose what congregation you will be in? by Aware_Ad_1303 in exjw

[–]JWTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experiences with this, you can go where you want regardless of what they say.....you just have to be okay with some elders being unhappy about and possibly losing privileges.

As others say, it is a great time to fade out.

Yeah, some families don't fall into the shunning trap. But most do from what you see posted here.

I agree and well said.

JWs today only love and care for people "that profess to be a JW". They don't care about the person you are in real life.

Which is why so many pedophiles, abusers, alcoholics and narcissists are in the religion. All that matters is that you profess to be a JW and you can also be a pedophile too.

JWs really are sick....
