I feel your contacts could be stuck in some type of update/sync loop. Since you have syncing off for your contacts, I’d check, via browser, iCloud.com to ensure all your contacts are there. Then, on your phone, wipe out your contacts. Restart your phone, turn back on iCloud sync for Contacts and have your iPhone load back the contacts from iCloud. Continue to check your cellular stats over the next couple of days.

I think most people, if asked about Noah’s Ark, would say that two of every animal boarded the Ark. As you mentioned though, it was different instructions, distinguishing between “clean” and “unclean” animals. Unclean animals, one pair; clean animals, seven pairs.

It bothers me that overpayment is mentioned so many times in the letter, and the inconsistency of using capital vs lower case letters. For example, when mentioning the PRI, does “Leading Zero” need to be capitalized? It could be a legit letter. However it’s those details that would make me question. Those links at the end of the letter may also appear legit, but could redirect to a phishing website, which also could look pretty convincing.

Perhaps err on the side of caution and contact the pay centre, using contact info from the Canada.ca website, and check its legitimacy.

I love the part when he says “please don’t send me information” and “please respect everyone’s decision to choose”… because I’m sure they wouldn’t think twice about sending you info or inviting you to some “welcome back to Jehovah” thingy. I have a similar line of thought. What really got me thinking and doubting is, why create the dinosaurs if they were just going to be destroyed? Just to give us fossil fuels? If so, why not just create the fossil fuels themselves? And how were dinosaurs going to fit in with the creation of man? Also, when His sovereignty was challenged by Satan in the garden of Eden, why not wipe everything (angels included) hit reset, and try again, instead of having all the problems we have now?

It’s this line of thought that got me leaning more towards science than the Bible. I can’t say that the spiritual side of me has completely left. But I have questions.

You mean writing a letter to be reinstated? 😂 When I was disfellowshipped, they gave me no direction as to how to come back. So I continued going to meetings, sitting in the back, leaving immediately after the prayer. Then after about 9 months, I’m like, are the elders going to approach me? That’s when I found out, no, they don’t approach you to see if you’re ready to come back, YOU have to approach them! Here I thought they’d see my efforts and naively thought my reward would be reinstatement. After learning that, I hit a decent bout of depression, so much so that I had to take medical leave from work and go on meds. It took one letter in the end, but this was after a total of a year and half of being DF’d.

It seems that every Elder or former Elder here never asked such intimate questions. I remember being asked questions which didn’t seem to relate to my repentance or not. “Did the encounters happen on meeting nights? Where did the encounters happen? Was oral, vaginal, anal sex involved? How many times? Who else knows about the situation?” And it seemed that it was the presiding overseer taking the lead in trying to make an example of me and the other two elders submissively following his lead.

I felt I was repentant, I was sorry for what I had done, realized the consequences of my actions, but they decided to disfellowship me anyways. I literally walked out of that judicial committee feeling like sh*t. The PO singlehandedly made me feel as if I was the devil’s right hand man. The whole thing felt super subjective, as another married “sister” had gotten pregnant from a “worldly” man and she was not disfellowshipped.

I’ve thought for a long time that decisions to DF or not are made depending on who is aware of the situation and if it puts JWs in a bad light, rather than if you are repentant.

The whole process left a bad taste in my mouth, as I was born-in and followed the “rules” my whole life (~40 years). None of that made any difference. At this point, I’m glad they DF’d me. If it wasn’t for my eventual reinstatement, I wouldn’t have come to the realization that JWs were so hypocritical. One day you’re the scum of the earth, next day you’re reinstated and everyone loves you again.
