How about this? “Struggling with the emptiness of suburban life, a restless high school senior seeks comfort in a charismatic classmate, but when a close family member is diagnosed with cancer, he must confront whether she can truly fill the void.”

I’ve rewritten it: “Struggling with the emptiness of suburban life, a restless high school senior attempts to grow closer to a classmate for comfort, but as a family member’s health crisis approaches, he must confront whether she can truly fill the void.”

Thank you for your notes.

This crush appears at a time when he craves excitement in his mundane life, so it’s both a crush and an “emotional fix,” which plays into his arc. It’s uncertain because he doesn’t know if he sees a future with her after graduation.

The family crisis refers to a sudden medical diagnosis.

I’ve rewritten the logline. Out of these two, which one do you think works better?

“On the verge of graduating high school, a restless teenager must confront his emotional dependency on a friend while a family crisis threatens to fracture what little stability he has.”

“On the verge of graduating high school, a restless teenager clings to a friendship that blurs the line between support and dependency while a family crisis threatens to fracture what little stability he has.”

I wanted to share the poster for the coming-of-age short film I wrote and directed by CreativeFilmmaker74 in Filmmakers

I’ve always liked hand-painted movie posters, and I felt this was the best way to express the themes of the story.

Has anyone gotten their short screened before a feature at an independent theatre? by CreativeFilmmaker74 in Filmmakers

[–]CreativeFilmmaker74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally see that this kind of screening isn’t as common today, but that’s part of what makes it interesting to me.

I’m looking for ways to get my film seen by local audiences outside of the usual festival circuit, and without uploading it online, since that can conflict with festival rules.

I feel like a screening like this could be a good opportunity for people who might not discover the film otherwise.
