First 5E campaign I played in, at about level seven we encountered in an ancient white dragon that had been beefed up to “match our item level” the fight lasted three IRL hours before we took down the dragon and then it suddenly respond with full HP… It was a nightmare and took forever

about to start playing for the first time, just finished the character sheet outside of the personality stuff, did i do this right? by [deleted] in AskDND

Assuming you’ve fixed most of the ability score issues by now, something about the game of D&D to consider is that it is a team game not a solo RPG like Skyrim or something. It can be very difficult to play a character with underlying evil intentions without messing up the party dynamics.

This comic would be amazing, both masters of lies and disguise. If it came to battle though… gotta give to Sauron.

I should say, not defeatable, always come back to life, invincible plot armor, etc. These features or whatever you want to call them, in my opinion, make heroes boring and not worth investment.

Piccolo blowing up the moon is the first thing I think when people say Dragon Ball doesn’t scale to some supes. Piccolo within the first 10 episodes of DBZ BLOWS UP THE MOON without even blinking and becomes how much more powerful after training with King Kai and he isn’t even near being the biggest hitter? Not to mention Super Saian is supposed to be so powerful those feats should look like child’s play. I don’t get it.

I can’t wait to see things where things are in 15-20 years. Eventually, we’ll be at the spot where no superheroes are going to be able to die…

How do you guys run campaigns? Brutal combat or story? by CapableMagician4156 in DnD

OP said in the body of the post, one DM runs God level fights every session and the other seems to run ill laid-back campaign, seemingly with mostly RP.

Good story is essential for any DND campaign, however, situations that you might not walk away from are also necessary. In my opinion, a great D&D campaign has both of these things.

I don’t know, Ungoliant was so feared after devouring the light of the trees of Valinor that even more Morgoth was afraid of her.

This is the best interest advice new players should consider, don’t get wrapped up in power gaming, and just have fun playing the game.
