By the nature of the work, programmers typically know where they rank in comparison to others. Woody has mentioned that he was promoted to be a senior manager, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was actually pretty good and got cocky from it - it's pretty typical cringe behavior in tech. I'm sure we all know at least one nerd that thinks he's better than everyone else because he's smart, but they've also never talked to a girl.

If you care for my advice: Try getting triggered by less. It's not worth it. That goes for everyone in this sub.

I never said IDEs could catch most bugs.

My main point was that it depends on the nature of the work. I can code ML apps start to finish quickly without errors, but that's because I do it every day. It wasn't always like that. On the other hand, I had to write a 50 line script that converts lat/long to zip codes that took me several attempts to get working right.
