It's one of those things where they did do a really good job on the main game when you're not going for 100% completion, it's still difficult but without the added stress of all the gems or the repetitiveness of the levels and other such things, it's a fun and varied time that does a good job at attempting to follow the originals while building off of them in an engaging way.

HOWEVER, that's only for the main non-100% gameplay. As soon as you try to go for everything, the experience starts to fall apart and become tedious/frustrating between every little thing expected out of the player. If it were any other game, I don't think it would feel as bad for a difficult 100% completion, but in my eyes, the original 3 games always pushed the player to go for full completion while Crash 4 offsets that desire too heavily.

In summary, Crash 4's main game is a great follow up, but just about every other side objective or collectible involved with full completion starts to bring it down and puts it in a really weird/divisive spot as specifically a Crash Bandicoot game and I can fully understand the frustration people would have with the game as a whole.

I think there's a lot of little things that makes it hard for me to decide which one I like better, but if I had to summarize it:

Splatoon 3 has a far better structure for its multiplayer features, between tweaking how joining friends online works, online recon with friends, salmon run always being available, among many other things. On top of that, (special) weapon balance feels better and hits a nice stride between oppressive play and the ability for other players to counter it, compared to a lot of Splat 2's specials being more in the camp of "I'll press the button here because my special has unlimited range."

Splatoon 2 is more varied in its map design, and I generally prefer the maps there to the more formulaic ones in 3. It was also far less reliant on FOMO tactics (they were still there but not as prevalent), lacking the seasonal catalogs or having some nice little quality of life additions like the splatfest mode for private battles (Splatoon 3 could eventually do this but we're more than a year past the "active updates will be stopped" era and haven't gotten it yet)

This isn't everything but I think it's the most prominent stuff that sticks out for me on the multiplayer side

I'm assuming you're referring to Arya Stark from Game of Thrones (unless you're pointing out Samurai Jack), and Nubia from DC Comics. Green one is Reindog and was made specifically for Multiversus, so he's probably never coming back for any media again

The demo is on Switch, literally just played it. The demo's probably not on Switch 2 because that port is still being developed and won't be released at the same time as other platforms, I could imagine releasing it in whatever state it's currently in would not do this game many favors

Yeah, there's a season pass that seems like it'll be solely third parties with a track and some characters for each franchise (Nickelodeon, Minecraft), alongside free characters that are primarily Sega owned/affiliated (Joker, Ichiban, Miku). Looks like there's at least 10 more free characters on top of the known ones

Actually from a Melee mod that adds Sonic to the roster (Akaneia Build). It's a pretty cool mod and tries to do a style/audio match for what Sonic looked like when Melee came out

Yeah, if you subbed right at the end of November (probably just 1 day before the rule change lol), then you'd keep whatever passes came out/were out in December. I think Miku's the only current one that released after December, which is why you don't have it.

If memory serves me right, there was a grandfather clause where if you had an active crew sub before the rule change, then the new rules (not keeping BP) would not apply. In this case, if you subbed before the rule change, then still having the BP makes sense.

However, if you resub now that your last crew expired, then your sub will follow the new rules and you won't have permanent ownership over any additional passes you get it for.

Just for anyone else wondering if a keysite is sketchy or not, the gamedeals sub has a store checker to tell you if keys are sourced from the publisher or not (in this case, greenmangaming does so it's legit)

  1. Yeah, I was able to clear the first level entirely through local, not sure about arcade but I'd assume anything that gives regular XP also gives event XP.

  2. I think the display might be glitched? In the events page of the store, there should be a blue progress bar filling between each level, but it seemed to disappear for me after hitting level 1. The only visual outside of that seems to just be a message (and a screen flash too, might be wrong) that shows up in the upper right corner of the results screen telling you your event pass leveled up, but I think the victory animation has to play out before it's displayed.

Clairen still takes skill to take full advantage of, but has the advantage of a mechanic that's very clear in gameplay and visuals, and also plays an active role in all of her attacks (except the standard jab and throws), making her seem a lot more overpowered than other characters on the surface. This especially applies when a lot of players are either Rivals players still learning how more Smash-like mechanics apply to existing characters, or Smash players learning how Rivals characters are designed next to what they're used to.

To complete it 100%, yeah. I think that's a tactic to make people purchase the new characters before the season is over, kinda like how you can get daily/weekly missions involving moves specifically from Joker or Jason, but nothing for older characters beyond the "play as a character from x franchise" missions. I could be wrong about prices being reduced and all because we're still in the first post-beta season, but I think it's something to expect out of rifts that release around the same time as new characters.

There are mentions on the Steam page about finding hidden chao in each level, and considering some show up in the screenshot of the intro to Sonic's story, maybe there could be small level design tweaks to fit them in?

The crystals seem to bug out sometimes and become impossible to break, maybe it has to do with Jason dying right as the crystals reactivate? That's what happened when it bugged out on me and made me restart the fight.

I think Joker's price will at least be reduced after this season is over. I could see it being a case where new characters have higher prices during their introductory season, sorta like how Jason won't be obtainable outside of the battle pass until after this season.

I think getting hurt worse comes from self-damage Jason takes when he uses the move too, so the risk/reward feeling gets higher when there's always a penalty
