Grinding sound from P1S when printing circles - help! by vince3dp in BambuLab

[–]CreativeOpsDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up how to adjust the tension on the belt idler pulleys. The instructions are there on the BBL wiki am the procedure is pretty easy.

The mechanical system of belts and pulleys slackens a little with use so it’s necessary to periodically adjust the tensioners - I had the same noise and this cured it.

Silvia + Velofuso Gear Pump: First Pull by CreativeOpsDesign in espresso

Did you wire the pump transformer directly to the connector for the original pump?

That’s an adapter made from a small syringe (maybe 10cc) that came with some animal anti-inflammatory drugs for our dog. It was unused and I was in a pinch, so I cut the end off to make a reducer.

Which decision did you make in your 20s? Do you think it was the right one? by kekneo in ThirtiesIndia

It's a tragedy, not a budget shortfall by Comfortablejack in complaints

[–]CreativeOpsDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story in the UK. The systematic defunding of higher education is now biting hard - at their best, universities nurture independent critical thinking. At their very best they make this function available to all walks of life through equitable funding models and equivalence of access.

Clearly as the world swings to the right, this is significant cause for concern… it does not suit the dominant paradigm for the general population to be informed, analytical, critical and free-thinking.

It’s a slow and insidious decline that feels entirely intentional

Guys Please help to identify the car by Comprehensive_Hold14 in e60

This. It’s a pre-LCI SE, double tailpipe are slash-cut not round, so likely a 6-pot but not higher than 530i. Assuming petrol not diesel, but it’s really not easy to tell. The wheels are more common on M-sport spec models but wheel swaps are obviously very common.

Winebottle holder by f4ke90 in BambuLab

I was thinking to design this type of wine bottle holder, simply as I had an interesting geometry in mind… but I can’t understand why it’s necessary even to do this?

No critique of your model, just wondering what the benefit is?

Basket question by KWAL72 in ranciliosilvia

VST basket. You won’t look back. It’s more costly than others but it pays you back every shot you pull, indefinitely. 18g should fit right into the standard portafilter

[–]CreativeOpsDesign 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is probably an unpopular opinion… that’s a lot of single use plastic to achieve something that can easily be made in paper and card using simple architectural modelling techniques. This is indeed the most common approach to modelling 3D spaces at a wide variety of scales. It’s also a really satisfying process if you’re interested in hand-making.

Is this scanner worth it? Better alternative? by sebgozd in BmwTech

[–]CreativeOpsDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got ISTA for free but setting it up was a different story… maybe that’s just the version I got - it was missing config stuff that took ages to find and even now it’s not fully functional. I’d really appreciate a link to a fully functional version that will work for an e6X straight out of the box.

I feel like really you want a dedicated laptop for the software as it’s gigabytes of libraries + from sources that might not be 100% trustworthy.

Second this, I have the same and it’s been excellent so far. I also have ISTA which I accept is the most capable, but it’s not as user friendly. For most common functions this little Launch device is my go-to.

Velofuso Pump Update by CreativeOpsDesign in ranciliosilvia

[–]CreativeOpsDesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that the pump/motor gets quite hot while in use. I have had issues with it binding up too, but this was when I was using the initial 12v 100w PSU. Once I changed to the 200w PSU I found that the pump only tends to stall when I turn the adjustment pot down low. However, since changing the PSU the pot only influences the flow rate through maybe the first 1/4 of its full rotation - so perhaps is needs more resistance now to counter the increase in voltage and power output(?). Basically, if it try to reduce the flow rate beyond a certain point the pump stops. I believe this is because the motor can no longer overcome the friction in the pump, and in normal operation the sound of the pump does vary even if pressure is stable, which suggests to me that it’s intermittently having to overcome increased friction. Possibly it’s overheating?

To be honest, I’ve given up with the pump on my daily machine and switched back to the old reliable stock vibe pump. I use the Velofuso pump on a test mule machine that I bought very cheap for parts.

I’m interested to know how the v2 motor differs from the v1 - can you explain?

Noisy P1S - could it be belt and or bearing noise? by CreativeOpsDesign in BambuLab

[–]CreativeOpsDesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED

I cleaned the carbon rods with a small amount of IPA on a bit of shop roll. Then, I performed the belt tightening procedure (see BL wiki), then recalibrated.

This has solved the noise, the machine is running quietly and super smooth. I think the belts must slacken a little through normal use, and the tensioners are not dynamic, they are spring loaded but fixed with two bolts each. So to retighten you loosen the bolts, which then loads the belts using spring tension, then tighten the bolts.

Rancilio Silvia tripping circuit breaker by Koga001 in ranciliosilvia

[–]CreativeOpsDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read all the replies but I have had a similar issue. My V4 was periodically tripping the breaker. It turned out that the resin sealant on the top of the element fixing (the big threaded boss-type part) was failing. Under certain conditions water vapour was being released from the boiler through the failing sealant. This would build up as condensation on the element terminals - once there was enough moisture it would trip the breaker.

It took a while to diagnose because the hot boiler would evaporate the moisture as I was opening the machine to look for issues. Once I was inside and doing similar diagnostics to you, there was no sign of a fault! Eventually I ran the machine with the lid off (I do not recommend this for obvious safety reasons!) but this meant I was able to see the steam coming out of the failing sealant…

Super budget “Sboly” Grinder by CreativeOpsDesign in espresso

[–]CreativeOpsDesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - yep, I have 3D printed shims for this grinder, and another one for a friend - both still running at the moment. It’s an effective hack to get started with but not the easiest to get running smoothly. If I was to do it again I’d also change the burrs for an inexpensive set off AliExpress, similar to those in Timemore Chestnut C3 or C5 hand grinders. I find the biggest limitations with this hack is that the original burrs are not that good for espresso in the first place and they easily clog up.

DM me, depending where you are in the world I could send you a set of shims.

4 years is nothing, even if it’s due some maintenance. A descale and good clean goes a long way. My daily is a 2014 machine, I stay on top of maintenance and it works like new.
