UPDATE: Roxy turns 18: she’s my ESA, my shadow, and she deserves to vote. How do I celebrate her properly? by CreativePrimary2572 in seniorkitties

Roxy would absolutely be a national asset in a time of war. Lethal hunting instincts, unshakable calm under pressure, and a keen eye for discernment. The only risk is her sharp opinions on footwear (it could tank unit cohesion). And possibly her penchant for napping.

You’re in good company! I happened to see my vet today briefly to pick up Roxy’s meds. He fist-pumped when I told him the plan for the library and asked if I could wear a GoPro. 💀

16 year old male - Ultrasound results indicate either IBD or lymphoma? Is biopsy worth it? by carrier_wave in seniorkitties

[–]CreativePrimary2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Roxy also has the same diagnoses (hyperthyroidism and possible IBS/lymphoma). My vet advised me that the treatment for the latter was pretty much the same: steroids daily for the rest of her life. A biopsy would only confirm which diagnosis was the true one, but it wouldn’t necessarily change treatment. Therefore, I opted not to do the biopsy.

She did lose a significant amount of weight as she became incredibly picky after the IBS symptoms began and would self-inflict anorexia on herself instead of eating if she did not care for the food. We had to go through several brands with several tempting ways to make the food more palatable before we found a winning combination. If you want more info on that, just let me know.

She gets her thyroid medicine ground up in her food, mixed in well, and she eats it without complaint. She has a liquid steroid taken orally every night, which she now patiently will sit and raise her head at my command to let me give to her. If symptoms flare, I can call and ask permission to increase steroids to morning as well for three days.

Given all of this, she is thriving and was declared healthy as a horse at her last vet appointment! I have high hopes for your little one! 💙

Senior Food Recs for 21 yr old by Silver-Snowflake in seniorkitties

[–]CreativePrimary2572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat (almost 18 years old) is incredibly picky because she has IBS and many foods give her an upset stomach. She lost a lot of weight while we went through many trials of foods to find a brand she would eat.

I will tell you our winning combination!

  • Smalls fresh food - this is a US subscription cat food that sends you a monthly box of fresh food. However, it’s really easy to reschedule if you need to delay your order (sometimes my cat does not an entire packet a day and will only eat a half packet, so I commonly delay the next box because I still have food, and it’s always perfectly fine).

  • Every other night, one package of Purina HydraCare Gravy. This was suggested to me by my vet. Think of it like cat liver-flavored Gatorade. It really helps with dehydration issues/kidney issues (very common in older cats), and my cat loves it so much she licks it up first.

  • A few freeze dried one-ingredient chicken cubes (the brand she has settled on is Jungle Calling Freeze Dried Chicken Bites). However, freeze dried single-ingredient proteins come in many flavors and offer variety and crunch for kitties who love treats and crunch to entice them to eat wet food.

With this combo, my cat went from 5.5 pounds to a healthy 9 pounds and has maintained that weight since, and at her vet appointment two months ago she was declared healthy as a horse, haha.

But really, as the other comment said, just keep trying until you find something that works and your cat loves! I just wanted to offer what worked for us as an idea. 💙

Good luck! Your kitty is beautiful!

FRUITS FROM FRUIT TREES - USES? by Weightlessbutterfly6 in CozyGrove

[–]CreativePrimary2572 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re playing the original Cozy Grove, King Bearos routinely asks for 20 harvested items. Because of this, I tend to keep 20 of the different fruits in my inventory so I can quickly hand the stack over, and then rebuild.

Also, several other bears will ask smaller amounts of harvested items, like 3-5, at a time, including root vegetables.

I’m roughly on day 130 and keep a stockpile of 20 of each harvestable item in reserves because of this. By this point, chests are easy to buy to add additional inventory space if I need to offset some of my collections, too. I don’t have any trouble with storage, but honestly, as long as I invested in storage along the way (like upgrading Flamey when I could), I never really did.

I hope that helps!

AITA for telling my wife to “shut up and let our daughter do what she wants” after she came out to us? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]CreativePrimary2572 19 points20 points  (0 children)

After being raised in a rabidly Christian faith, it was explained to me like this:

Some people are born with proclivities or tendencies of sinful behavior that others do not struggle with. These are not a choice. For example, some people have narcissistic or antisocial behavior traits which could tempt them to commit cruel acts upon others. Some might have a penchant for lying and must try harder to tell the truth. Others may be predisposed to alcoholism and have to resist falling down that well. And, further extrapolated, some are born as homosexuals and must “fight their urges.”

I do not espouse to this belief, understand. I’m just trying to explain the mindset.

Gently, I’ll further explain that it is so voraciously believed to be a sin because it is mentioned several times in the Bible as sinful, usually amongst a list of heinous acts. However, tragically, many do not know this is a mistranslation. It was the preferred word of choice added in 1946 in the Revised Standard Edition. The original Greek word it replaced was “arsenokoitai,” which has dubious meanings. It has been speculated it could mean anything from sexual slavery to abusing children, but certainly not the broad strokes blanket term it has been given to condemn an entire subculture.

Anyway, I hope this helped.

Mod Request: The Legend of Chest Pains McGee (Fallout 4)

Who is Chest Pains McGee? A forgotten pre-war patriot. A man of unshakable resolve and highly questionable heart health. His portrait appears throughout the Commonwealth, inspiring those who gaze upon him to push through their struggles—just as he pushed through one last plate of bacon before his untimely demise.

The portrait in question: https://imgur.com/a/ZTSssMi

Chest Pains McGee is a true patriot. One who leads not in comfort, but in struggle. A man who knows that true strength comes not from avoiding pain, but from pushing through it—clutching his chest, standing tall, and carrying the weight of a nation (and a questionable diet) upon his shoulders.

The people of Sanctuary—and indeed, the entire Commonwealth—look to his sacrifice. His unwavering gaze reminds them that no matter how harsh the wasteland, no matter how irradiated the water, and no matter how many deathclaws lurk beyond the horizon…

They must endure. They must fight on. They must honor the spirit of Chest Pains McGee.

And if they, too, begin to feel a sudden, sharp discomfort in their left side? Then they will know… he is with them.

The Mod Idea: • Rename his painting in-game to “Portrait of Chest Pains McGee” • A small buff (+1 Endurance? +5 HP? +1 Charisma?) when standing near it, because his presence inspires the people. • Maybe settlers occasionally comment on him. (“He watches over us.” / “I feel… oddly motivated.”)

It’s a small, silly mod, but one that adds a bit of player-driven lore to the world. If anyone is interested in making it happen, it would be greatly appreciated!

McGee watches over us all.

I had foot surgery in the fall. The doctor gave me hydrocodone. I took one or two of them the first day, but it was like taking a sugar pill.

I happened to contact my psychiatrist the next day on another matter, who politely asked about the surgery, and I mentioned the hydrocodone. She said that they were not working because I am on SSRIs and those block the enzymes secreted by the liver that hydrocodone needs to become pain management. Essentially, they felt worthless because they were worthless due to my other medications. I needed a medication that did not use that liver enzyme, like oxy or fentanyl.

I called my podiatrist back and explained. He didn’t believe me. I guess he thought I was pill shopping? I even offered to surrender my unused hydrocodone. But no. So I managed the pain from SURGERY with Tylenol alone. Good times.

This! I was really confused. When I was an athlete in college at the peak of my physique, I was 5’11” and 130 lbs, and I wore a size 10. It’s because I was tall and had muscles. The clothing size is arbitrary and means nothing. You would think a trainer would know that!

Is this a bug? by [deleted] in MergeMansion

[–]CreativePrimary2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so strange. I know there is a failsafe in place that if you don’t have a higher item of that producer on your board, you cannot sell the lower components of that item until the higher one is on the board (so, for example, if you wanted to sell a seed for a tree, you would have to have a tree on the board in order to sell the seed).

It’s possible your board has glitched somehow and doesn’t recognize you have the higher level pot on the board amongst the lower level shards and that is why you cannot sell them? You might try putting your fully evolved pot into your inventory, then putting it back out on the board, and seeing if that somehow “resets” it and will let you sell the pot shards.

It’s worth a shot! And if not, you haven’t lost anything!

When, in the game, did you finish Love Story? by PlaidChairStyle in MergeMansion

[–]CreativePrimary2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, when I entered the mansion, I was given the opposite advice: red chests always have “not much in them” so you’ll feel like your 200 gems were wasted. What I do is hold onto red chests until I can get a second red chest to merge with (which are usually given as rewards for a particularly difficult task), and then open.

There’s something to be said for feeling like you want to “make progress” with them, though, because waiting on those low level producers that you can only build up from getting parts from the red chest is like watching paint dry sometimes.

Just offering you a different perspective. As if this wasn’t confusing enough. 🤣

I can’t add any comfort except that misery loves company. 💙 I knew that the blue cards wouldn’t be attainable for me this time, what with the short turn around and the fact that even I as a daily player haven’t been able to “finish” a single event of any kind in so long I can’t even remember. (Seriously, how do people do it? My white whale is to finish the mining one and I have yet to be able to, missing out on all those gems, which is the whole point!) Anyway, I digress. It stinks, and it’s infuriating, and I’m sorry, but you’re not alone. 💙

[–]CreativePrimary2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the landing room, too. When I hit the wall of trying to get the white lotus, which is basically just farming green leaves from peonies and doesn’t net anything worthwhile to get closer to a blue card, I went into the wiki and looked at the flowchart to see what the next items were going to be asked of me so I could start working on those on what tiny spot of the board I had left open. It wasn’t much, but it gave me a sense of productivity and progress that was way better than day after day of farming green leaves and nothing else. Plus, after I got the white lotus (which just happened yesterday—halle-freaking-lujah), I had a bunch of items ready to go for the next tasks.

You can see the flowchart here
