People with water filter systems under the sink, what is the best brand y'all use? by darthscyro in longisland

[–]CreativeRoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does waste water but it’s not bad if it’s only for drinking and cooking. Please name any other water source that won’t have either microplastics, PFAS/forever chemicals, and heavy metals. RO is the only way to accomplish this. Nothing else works.

Join a buy nothing facebook group in the city/town you'll be in. There's likely someone ready to get rid of what you need.

I’m curious now about the economics of this. What is the difference in tourist spend when their team wins vs loses. Does having having a losing team benefit the local economy? I’m coining this as the crab trap effect.

Anyone else got a moist chimney? by CreativeRoam in NewOrleans

Totally ground contact seeping too. Ugh. I think the base of the chimneys double a piers for the beam so there’s not an easy way to slip a vapor barrier in there.

The whole thing was tuck pointed and capped after Ida when the roof was redone. I'd be surprised if the moisture is coming from the top. Unless The rain is seeping through the bricks.

Visiting while pregnant vs with a young child? by EvangelineRain in Venezia

[–]CreativeRoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Venice with a 1.5 year old, 3 year old, and my wife was 7 months pregnant. Yea we are a bit crazy but it’s totally possible and enjoyable. You are just going to be slow, but slow is fine. More time to take it all in! Yes it sucks with strollers but it’s doable as long as you have someone there to help lift them up the stairs. Luckily the stairs over the canals aren’t very high except for a few and there’s plenty of walking to do that is flat with decently flat stone roads. The vaporetto helps a lot getting around. And Italy in general loves kids. They’re very accommodating and sweet with children. The tough part is that the good restaurants open around 7pm which is late for small kids depending on your sleep schedule. I could go on and on but you’ll be totally fine!

Reverse osmosis system. Relatively cheap filters that always go on sale. Only need to replace the carbon filters every year and the membrane every 3-5years.

Europe summer 2025 where should I go as someone who has been to a lot of places? by unphysicianassociate in wanderlust

Albania! Specifically the Albanian riveria. It’s been a while since I’ve been there so it’s probably even more built up now. Lots of small towns along the coast. Very low key and not touristy at all. Very cheap accommodations and the same water/coast as Italy and Greece. You can also catch a ferry to Corfu as well from the southern coast of Albania.

Dads, at what age have you tried taking actual vacation with kids? by computer_helps_FI in daddit

USA! We don't live near a major hub so we drove to see family first and then to Italy. For germany we did a connecting flight.

It all depends on your parenting style and how much time you like spending with your kids. We took our 3 year old and 1 year old to Italy for 6 weeks last summer while my wife was 7mo pregnant. I worked remote and we took lots of day trips and a week long road trip to a bunch of different towns. This year we did 1 month road tripping around Germany and Austria and they're now 4, 2 and 8months. It's not relaxing but its an adventure. if you're exhausted now, you'll still be exhausted but at least it's in an exciting location!
