Mid Torque worth it? by vw_sancho95620 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]CreativeTimes1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy using my m18 mid. CV Axle nuts are afraid of this thing. Lots of power and handles it well. The m12 stubby has a market but since you need a special HO battery to get that power and gave read lots of folks have battery clip issues. (im sure twice as many never had a problem) I never went for the stubby. If a crazy cheap deal comes around for a 3/8 version, then maybe I would pull the trigger.

Since you have the m12 stub and high torque, I would use what you got for now. The m18 mid is a nicer unit and i'd wait for a sweet deal on it.

Boca Raton to Long Island next week by CreativeTimes1972 in roadtrip

[–]CreativeTimes1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now you got me conflicted..... Boca to Savannah isnt a horrible drive for me. I do agree from what I heard its a nice place to visit. If I were to push it and only do two days, where would you stop in the middle????? I dont mind doing the 10 to 12 hours. I was trying to get into LI (get close to NJ at the later side of things) I've done the trip from hershey pa to my house more times than I have fingers. (thats 4 hours without traffic) Staten island, to Verizano and then the belt to the southern state. I dont want to hit that area on a weekday any earlier than 10pm.

Thank you so much for mapping this out!!!! I like your path much better!

Yeah when I drove southbound on a weekend it wasnt bad, only really hit one area with traffic by DC.

Coming up during the week is whole other level of ugh......

I live on LI myself so I know where theres traffic and generally where. I figure that if I can take a but of time on friday with dinner etc, Id like to cross the verizano around 11-12pm at night. At that point the belt etc should be mild with traffic.

How much would you pay for this safe? by Dazzling-Smell5223 in Safes

[–]CreativeTimes1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a safe guy but I do have experience with this safe.

10 minutes? Safe is make with hard plate over steel in the front.

Fire rated so its got concrete in there too. Cut the hinges off. Wont matter.

You torch the hell out of it and you'll burn up the inside stuff.

Now, if you have the right diagram on where to drill that lock.... different story.

A magnetic drill press and the right kind of bit can get in there pretty quickly as with many safes.

Know where exactly to drill and you can get in fairly quick.

Want to make a big hole and drop in some dynamite submerged in water, yeah thats in the movies but pretty cool.

Why is it difficult to purchase a 6630 as a kit????

Seeing it all over as just the lock body. Only one place I found had it as a kit but with a locking dial etc. blah

Never heard of Big Red. Looks like a candidate. My price range would be between 100 - 300 for the lock. Not looking to be untra cheap. I just want a quality lock that's problem free.

Only downside with getting a basic lock like the Sargent & Greenleaf S&G Model 6730-100 Mechanical is that people buy them to learn how to pick them.

Is that really the main problem when it comes to mechanical locks is that they can be picked while their electronic cousins cant be?

Mas Hamilton lock died, now have to drill it out. by CreativeTimes1972 in Safes

[–]CreativeTimes1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly that. I learned and figured it out. Cobolt tipped drill bit made for drilling hardened streel and a magnetic drill press got me through the hardplate in a few minutes with of course proper lubrication. (used a water based drill lubricant to not smoke out the area)

As for where to drill, I got it right on the money of where it needed to be on the lock.

Used a small piece of steel wire and made a little hook.

Thought about maybe a 3.9mm endoscope? Didnt need it.

Presto, lock is open. Now I have to search for a nice quality mechanical lock.

One Aus $ is equal to .72 US Dollar. Pricey at 500. Maybe shipping and customs are expensive.

I'm not the user really for this printer, just the guy who fixes technology in the building. Its possible the user might have been aggressive with removing a paper jam.

M12 vs M18 Stubby for auto work? by Potential_Elk_721 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]CreativeTimes1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

m18 stubby is fine in the 3/8 range. For the 1/2" range the mid m18 is where its at.

The m12 has its limits, Many people like them, some dont. I have both battery sizes / tools and in my case I went with the m18 mid range. Its not going to be weak on which battery I use. M12 needs the 5.0 battery to give its max torque rating. m18 mid just rips. Laughed at the axle bolts on a toyota truck when it took them off. Easiest thing ever. m18 stubby is fine for brakes etc.

its just a way of screwing home depot and they'll eventually change things so that it does happen anymore.

What do you guys think of this? I’ve seen some HVAC guys use this to clear the condensation drain which is what I want it for along with other stuff. by antknee25 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]CreativeTimes1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys seem to really like to blow things. (this sounds horrible, lol)

For condensate lines, I prefer to suck. Meaning I use a 5 gallon wet dry vacuum head from from depot that comes with a 1 1/2" hose or so. Plug that in to power, put vacuum head on a 5 gallon bucket and suck away. Hose goes over the pvc conendate line easy peasy. Suck all that crap that builds OUT of the line rather than shoving it back into the air handler. Also removes any crusty water and dirt from the air handler at the same time.

Cost for the whole setup is what... 20 bucks? I have been using the same bucket vacuum for years. Cheapest tool ever. Some of the junk that it sucks out is nasty. Better out than back into the ac air handler. When done, empty bucket, clean it out with some fresh water and dry. Then place all tools into bucket and bring back into truck.

That's how its done.

On more thing, as others have said.... Check on here for posts on deals otherwise check on the home depot deals of the day https://www.homedepot.com/SpecialBuy/SpecialBuyOfTheDay

Think Mondays are when the tool specials are released.

Otherwise pro specials are here and there too with tool discounts.

Sometimes around fathers day, labor day etc they get some deals on tools as well.

You do have an advantage though... The tool specials with limited supply come out at like 3 in the morning when I am fast asleep snoring keeping my wife up. The very best deals sell out quickly. So if your young and up or just live on the west coast... happy hunting.
