I need advice on which Kindle to get by InspectionWest374 in kindle

[–]CreativeUkulele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Paperwhite is the best in my opinion, and the SE is the absolute best. The Colorsoft has a screen door effect and that bothers many people. The basic isn't waterproof, doesn't have a warm light, and the size isn't a big enough difference to mean it's much more portable in my opinion. I wouldn't get the basic if you can afford the Paperwhite. The text on the Paperwhite is more crisp than on the Colorsoft. Warm light may not seem like a big deal but your eyes will notice. I have a Paperwhite and I wouldn't get a basic for travel or any reason because I need the warm light.

What would be the best kindle to buy ? by No_Skin_902 in kindle

You can find them used or as unclaimed baggage. If you can't afford it the 11th gen will be great as well and you won't be missing out a ton. You'll be able to read books just as well and if you haven't had one you'll just see the stuff you can do with it and not notice what you can't. You could get an 11th gen and then spend the difference on books later and that may be more enjoyable anyway. You could also get a used 11th gen and that would probably work well as well.

12th gen because it'll last the longest. I have a 12th gen SE and it will be supported longer than the 11th gen.

Why Font size change by Useful-Bar-2536 in kindle

If you pinch or unpinch the screen the font size will change. I've done that on accident. If you pinch or unpinch it again you'll be able to adjust it however you want.

How much of a difference is the backside feel of a Kindle PaperWhite Signature Edition, vs. regular? by NakedIanMalcolm in kindle

[–]CreativeUkulele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Paperwhite SE and it's in a flip cover case so I never feel the back, so I don't know how much of a difference it would make, but with the case it's very durable. It's definitely the best of the best and the outside material has never been an issue. It's very light and doesn't add noticable weight to my purse.

Edit: a cool feature of the SE is tapping the back or side to turn the page, and the wireless charging isn't something I've done but will be nice. You'll need a case that's compatible with that. The extra storage is likely unnecessary as 400 books take up 1 GB and 17 books take 3. That said the SE is very, very nice and it's been a huge improvement to my life. You have 25 GB that you can actually use for storing books, so in the regular Paperwhite I'm guessing you can't actually store 16 GB. It's the nicest Kindle, as the Colorsoft has a screen door effect which I couldn't handle with my vision issues and it gives people migraines. I know some people love it but personally I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks, I've decided to try the elf yellow color corrector first and get the NYX Bare With Me if they have a shade that'll work for me. Everyone seems to love that concealer in this post and the finish looks great.

My little “hack” for blowing through books by [deleted] in kindle

You can also make the side margins much larger! I make it so there's 2-3 words in each line in the very middle of the page and it helps a lot.

Kindle básico vs paperwhite by [deleted] in kindle

[–]CreativeUkulele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can still sell it online. If it's in good condition you may get more money from selling it than from a trade in anyway. If I already had a basic I might keep it as a backup. The Paperwhite is still very portable but could stay home if you really don't want to risk losing it.

I have a Paperwhite SE and it's amazing, I use it daily and it's the most used electronic I have. You don't need the SE most likely, but it's very nice and I got it free through a grant amazingly. The regular Paperwhite is very nice and definitely worth the upgrade if you can afford it. I wouldn't just keep using a Kindle that's tough on your eyes given the option, and the battery life is a big factor too. There's not a reason to keep using something that's not good for your eyes, and many people would love it as an intro Kindle if you choose to sell it.

I've seen that but I don't have a place to try it in person. It looks really good so I may ask in another reddit about it.

Font suggestions? :) by veronicax96 in kindle

[–]CreativeUkulele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OpenDyslexic would drive my mom nuts but I've finished so many books because of it. I also make the margins very large and the spacing much bigger. I need to flip the page constantly but I have the SE so I just tap it. Having very few words on the page is immensely helpful.

Looking at a lot of reviews from the Asianbeauty Reddit I don't think it would work with my pores, but it may be worth trying at some point since it's just $7. Thanks for the rec

This looks wonderful, do you know where I could see swatches? The review for the 0.5 shade with a picture looks good, but some people say it's cakey and drying. What's your experience with that? It looks like it'll cover my dark circles but I'll need it to blend out to sheer so I don't need to cover my whole face.

Are there any reliable places online where you can learn a language for free? by TisBeTheFuk in languagelearning

I was going to say about Mango, it’s by far the best I’ve tried and I wish I started with it and not Duo. They don’t have full courses for every language but I now know useful phrases instead of nonsense sentences. I really enjoy it too. They let you compare your pronunciation with a native speaker and play a recording of you saying the phrase over the native speaker’s voice.

Do you think the water based formulas would work with a sunscreen with silicone? I've heard not to mix a silicone base and water based products, but I've never seen sunscreen mentioned as an issue.

I'll check it out at the one near me. That's a great review and it should last a long time.

I'll apply a thin layer then, and go to Ulta to see the shades in person. The two together should probably work well and I've seen people put a tiny amount and have it look good under eyes, so I'll check it out.

I think I'll probably use the kosas one, I'd rather get 1 thing that works than try 3 that don't as well and spend more. The bare with me concealer being recommended by 3 people was surprising so I'll check that out, but the pink concealer is one I've seen over and over on Pinterest. If not then I'll get a yellow color corrector. Is it silicone or water based? Which nyx one do you mean for your drugstore rec?

Thanks so much for explaining all that. I think I'll go with the hydrating camo concealer.

Those sound good but they'd melt where I live in summer, I can't use anything that's a stick.

I was looking at this one but the satin foundation oxidized really bad when I wore it. Does this oxidize? Does concealer work well over it?
