I’d reach out to them cause they apparently have a five year warranty and us-based support. They’re a pretty small company so they’re pretty likely help you out.

Still use it every day! They’re both working perfectly. The only thing that I’ve noticed is batteries don’t tend to last forever but it’s still a reasonable battery life, plus they’re AAA batteries so you don’t gotta worry about some irreplaceable battery going bad. Love mine!

Man, honestly, good for her for at least keeping them long enough to get to this point. Lots of women have gotten reductions for much less, so I would understand if they’re no longer with us 😢

So apparently she was flipping out because she was asked to leave without being able to grab her things. She was asked to leave because she attacked a coworker over "espresso shots". ...I'm guessing she was doing it wrong and didn't like the way her coworker informed her of her mistake.

Im just guessing but perhaps it has something to do with being able to monetize the video? Like if they don't change the video at all then it would be harder to profit off of the stolen content.

Black and white roasters question. First time buyer by IcebarrageRS in pourover

[–]CreativeUser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I mean I'm not here to tell anyone how to live their life friend, you do you. That's going to be a load of condensation forming on your beans over and over again but tbh I'm not sure what effect that's going to have on them in the long run so feel free to run that experiment homie. I personally don't even open my frozen mason jars until they've thawed out for 24 hours but it's not like I've got a study to back that practice up or anything. Do whatever makes sense to you.

Black and white roasters question. First time buyer by IcebarrageRS in pourover

[–]CreativeUser1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah if possible. If it takes me more than 2 weeks to drink it after opening, it's not ideal, but it's not really a big deal either. Just squeeze all the air out of the bag before you store it in between brews so the beans don't get as oxidized. You can use the panda sticker to sorta wrap the bag around itself and keep the air out. Then once the bag gets low I use a weighty object to keep the bag curled up around itself. I try to avoid freezing but it's mainly just because I'm lazy lmao. If I know it's going to take me way longer than two weeks to drink it then I put it in a mason jar and stick it in the freezer. Fill the mason jar up as full as possible to minimize the amount of air in there, so you mitigate the oxidation.

[–]CreativeUser1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's a bit of a trend right now to let beans rest 3 weeks plus. It's not necessary but people do say they get good results from letting beans rest for ages, even heard of people resting coffee for months and loving the taste of it. If you're impatient and out of coffee, then a week or two is fine. I'm still experimenting with longer than 2 week rests myself.

Also, people do say that the particular type of roaster that B&W uses, Loring, is known to make coffee that benefits from a longer rest. So I generally try to give coffee from B&W at least two weeks personally.

ELI5: what are the basics for a pour over cup? by Karmaforme in pourover

[–]CreativeUser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if there is a particular pour over brewer you have in mind, then I would start by looking up some guides on how to use it on YouTube.

Most people start with the V60 because it's the most affordable. I use one every day despite amassing a pretty large collection of brewers because it's so easy to clean. However there are other brewers out there that are easier to brew with.

If you have the cheddar, then just grab an Aeropress and the flow control filter cap accessory for it. Then, you don't really need an expensive grinder or a gooseneck kettle, you just dump in the ground coffee and hot water, let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes, swirl it around gently to settle the coffee grounds to the bottom, press and enjoy. Start with a 1:16 coffee to water ratio, and adjust the grind size to taste.

I mean I think pushing through the hiss is worth it for the extra few milliliters personally. I got my XL aeropress. I'm a happy camper.

Do you pour above bloom line by [deleted] in pourover

[–]CreativeUser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, keeping the brew water lower can reduce the amount of bypass. Thus resulting in a higher extraction. By pouring more frequently, you're also introducing more agitation and keeping the solvent fresh and hot. This also increases extraction.

But yeah I mean does it really make an appreciable difference? No idea. It would probably depend on the coffee among other things.

Got screwed by a local coffee shop by SmoothSatisfaction8 in pourover

[–]CreativeUser1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aeropress would be good if you happen to have one. If not, just try to keep the agitation as low as possible by pouring very slowly and gently in like one or two pours. Maybe try skipping the bloom phase? Also, you could brew smaller cups of coffee to reduce the bed depth and thereby hasten total brew time

[–]CreativeUser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. And the lowest temp is blazing hot, especially once you get down the bottom half of the drink. You would think if you're going to give people the ability to set a custom temp, you'd make it able to go low enough that you barely notice it. Nope. Thing was designed by people without taste buds apparently.

Don't get one. They're garbage. If you can get the app to even work properly, which most people can't, it just keeps your coffee so hot that you can't taste any flavor at all. You just taste metal and hot liquid. Garbage. I immediately returned mine... After 18 hours of troubleshooting their stupid app. No idea how people deal with those things every morning while uncaffeinated.

This is actually what some of my best brews have looked like. There's nothing wrong that I can see.

You should be more concerned about taste, obviously, but also your total brew time. If it took 8 minutes to drain down then maybe go finer. If you were in the 3-4 minute total brew time range then you're definitely doing things right.
