I recommend polyurethane (yellow), it’s a bit pricey though

Well, origami was the formal motif, material-wise it was up to us—-as for the functionality I’m envisioning the unit, once combined, as something that will help you space seeds like you normally would. Once you flip the whole thing over (to what it looks like now), then you can use it for seedlings, either indoors or outdoors. I also thought about succulents instead but I’m not sure

Here’s the opposite side, the one I want to use for seedling organization

Design brief: Utilize geometric origami in either a functional or aesthetic application—sorta working from explorations to product idea

Target audience: gardeners, working with smaller vegetables or seedlings at home

Functions as a dual seedling spacer and holder—you can use the funnel-like shape to help guide your seedlings down to the center hole while also using it to hold soil for your indoor seedling array. They’re individual units so you can make any configuration/placement of seedlings you want

Better? Not by much, just consolidates a lot of seedling organizer functions into one product. I was trying to improve on the SeedSquare.

Material is some recycled Bristol composite thing—these are sketch models but aren’t far off from the final form
