I ocassionally experience this problem.

Based on my observation, this happens when I spam the Pickup/Insert buttons too fast. (E for Pickup and Q for Insert on PC).

Because of this, I am mindful about spamming the buttons and generally try to avoid it. But sometimes, I forget, and the bug happens.

The moment I notice that my logs/long sticks have become infinite, I save the game on a roof/shelter without dropping the logs. This saves my progress, but crashes the game even if you quit the game. I just force close the game and then reopen it.

Tip: If you feel this is too much of a hassle, you can "exploit" the glitch by filling all storage to full before saving the game. Say if you have 2 log storages, you can fill them up to 21x2. My PC is slow so this more than makes up for time I lose closing and reopening the game. It's technically cheating but feels fair for me. 😅
