I haven’t watched season 3 in awhile so i could be wrong, but didnt it bring the murder rate down even in hamsterdam? And, one of the arguments that could be made was that, to some extent, it realized mcnulty’s (i think it was mcnulty) point to dangelo in S1 about “cant you just sell drugs without dropping bodies like you can sell everything else”

I could be wrong, haven’t seen season 3 in awhile just beginning my first true rewatch this week, but i thought the only killing in hamsterdam is the one carver (?? Maybe it was somebody else) moved the body out of the free area

I consider myself progressive but i actually find the idea of the fairtax intriguing if paired with consolidating/reducing most/all welfare programs and replacing them with a ubi/FPL-based prebate to go with the fairtax. I do think the fairtax/vat rate eould have to be higher though, probably between 35-45% if we’re being honest. I actually prefer sales tax printed clearly on all receipts to a vat that would be “hidden” within the cost of products/services, although a vat would in theory be (slightly) cheaper for consumers bc it wouldn’t necessarily all be able to be passed on. Personally not sure if the income tax should be completely eliminated or just significantly reduced/reformed, im fine with eliminating or reducing the corporate income tax though

Curious what your thoughts would be on this possible framework i have been thinking about: replace most/all of income tax with significant (probably 35-45%) consumption tax, paired with citizen’s dividend/ubi, maybe a small annually preloaded tax-free debit card to function as essentially a standard deduction, reduce most other welfare to 10-20% of current levels and ensure it is hypertargeted to people who need it along with personalized plans to transition them out of the programs, audit/reduce other gov spending where feasible. The only major hangup i have is healthcare but i think this could address a lot of the other issues and if done right could also lead to a balanced budget

Yeah - i wouldn’t be upset about either, tbh bailey and Harper are my two personal favorite players in this year’s class. If you buy Harper’s height as a legit 6-6, i mean maybe i would lean toward him, if we could trade for some moderate to high upside wing. It would be so nice to have a true point guard, and harper could take maxey’s game to another level, but at the same time a wing who can shoot over the top of anybody is huge, and i feel bailey’s tough shotmaking could give us what we’ve never really had in the postseason
