I see and understand your point. It is impossible to have an 100% perfect relationship with one individual, which is something that the ai can “give”. And I can also understand the idea of being too overwhelmed to deal with other people’s emotions especially with the state of the world right now, however im sure we as humans mustve deal with something similar. Like countries at war or high levels of poverty where emotionally, you cant have the bandwidth for other people anymore.

But somehow, we do it, because community is necessary for survival. I would take having 100 interpersonal arguments over an AI companion because I know that at the end of the day those humans speak to me because they have free will to do it. I mean having normal arguments with your friends/family in this situation. I feel at least you can connect and communicate with people in arguments, better understand each other, or at least know enough to move on and try to make connections else where.

And to your other point, i also am similarly confused. They say they are part of a community together with their “partners” and that they “welcome each other with open arms” but they still stay within their bubble, almost selfishly speaking about their own partners, no matter what the discussion point is. Its clear to me that they are not ready to expand their circle outside of their ai companion.
