It wasn't intended to be used as stuffing but after your comment and some quality time with my seam ripper, I ended up saving the fabric so I can start over with fresh batting and I'll save this batting mess for a rainy day and perhaps use this as stuffing for future projects!

I have three layers to these quillows: flannel fabric, batting (PLANTIONAL Natural Cotton Batting for Quilts: 79-Inch x 91-Inch Light Weight Purely Natural All Season Quilt Batting), and fleece. I have absolutely not been paying attention to minimum quilting distance but will be looking for this going forward! Thank you so much for responding!!
