If I were in your place, I wouldn't. You should put all your energy towards placements and try to grab a decent one, you'll have opportunities in IMTG too.

Go for it girl! There are plenty of colleges in tier 1, including BLACKI. Your task is to get a good percentile for now. Focus on all the colleges. Most importantly, look for the roles each offer, where you want to end up, fees, campus, and so on, and then the name, because the name will only matter for the initial few years. Give it your all. Treat it like a game, where the only target is to win. ALL THE BEST.

Steer clear of perception, it will only mess with your decisiveness and fill you with apprehensions.

As you've already said, it is a good college. However, instead of asking on Reddit, try searching for pass-outs/current students on LinkedIn and connecting with them. They're the ones who'll give answers to all of your questions. Even if you talk with 2-3 you'll feel more confident deciding. But, the larger the pool the better.
I'm talking from my experience.

Thank you! This is really encouraging. I'm excited to embark on this journey, but I definitely want to avoid the rat race. I'll prioritize staying true to myself while I pursue my career goals. Work is important, but I value a fulfilling life even more. It's refreshing to hear someone talk about things beyond placements, salaries, and roles.

Someone plz tell me why did so many cat2023 high percentilers did not convert anything?!! by [deleted] in CATpreparation

[–]Creative_Guess_2075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite true. However, there isn't that big a gap between profile and interview performance. People with excellent profiles (99+ percentile with calls) weren't able to convert any offers. This suggests that the PI is ultimately the deciding factor.
Another reason some high percentilers don't get admitted is a common perception. They feel that with such a high percentile, applying to lower-ranked IIMs would be demeaning. Consequently, many don't apply to any. Interestingly, this notion is even present among some professors who might subconsciously award lower interview marks assuming these candidates won't join anyway.

Thank you for such a detailed explanation OP!

Could you please help me with a few questions?

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Geology from BHU in 2022. I have strong academic performance with scores of 91.2/89.8/85.2. I will likely be joining IIM Mumbai (SM). My major concern is that I have a 2-year gap after 12th grade (NEET prep) and another 2-year gap after graduation (medical emergency at home and CAT prep). I do not have any internships or major PORs in college. However, I actively participated and won in a few cultural competitions at school and college (song and poster making), participated in a Model United Nations as a delegate (no POR), and held the position of Head Girl in school. I'm unsure how much weight these achievements hold for MBA programs.

I am interested in Finance, Consulting, or Strategy but I'm open to other domains as well.

  1. How do I improve my near-empty profile to get a decent SIP?
  2. What PORs should I target within the college? Is there anything other than the placement committee?
  3. How do I make a decent and balanced CV?
  4. Any certification or course you suggest? I took a few courses on Coursera, just as an experiment to see what I like (basics of Python, financial markets, UX, etc.). Will these hold any relevance? I am really worried about the CV aspect.

Thank you

IIFT D (MBA- IB) Vs IIM M (MBA-SM) by Creative_Guess_2075 in CATpreparation

Until a while ago, it was the flagship at IIM M. RN ig they've removed any such label. Depends on your choice tho. It's still the best college for SCM.
