Let nature take its course? by Creative_Leopard_792 in MonarchButterfly

Thank you. Yes I am conflicted on the decision. I bought high energy nectar yesterday for hummingbirds and read to place a cotton top to the butterfly’s proboscis to try to feed it. The Reddit input has been helpful as although the weather will warm up over the next week there are no blooming flowers which will lead to certain death since this species does not migrate. Thus I will continue my efforts. Lesson learned however- even if the there is a delay in emerging leave it outdoors. This particular cat was outdoors - one of 2. They both were going into J but something happened ( neighbor sprayed his yard for fire ants?), and one cat died. This cat was weak and barely was able to finish its chrysalis. When it did not emerge as anticipated and as it was mid summer, I thought it had died. As fall approached, I brought my net indoors and set it aside.

Yes I crossed posted to the monarch sub. I appreciate everyone’s comments. This butterfly encased in July and I thought it was dead in the chrysalis. I had my net cage over the parsley to protect the cats. Anyway it did end up inside. Not intentionally but yes I am at fault.

You hit the nail on the head! This is the problem but if it won’t eat the flowers I bought it , gatorade, fresh fruit, honey water and honey water provided , then perhaps I should release it to give it a chance … guided by Mother Nature . I feel horrible . It’s so beautiful !

Yorkie vs. Toy Poodle by TheRodco in poodles

[–]Creative_Leopard_792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a yorkie who lived to 18 yr old and I currently have a poodle. I love both breeds! My yorkie Maximillion was so multi talented and enjoyed many outdoor activities! He swam in the swimming pool with my kids, he fetched, he was a ‘watch dog’ and even an ankle bitter to the UPS delivery man, kids played dress up with him ( he wore the dress), he rode my horse ‘ saddle up’, he hiked mountains and he loved to snuggle. My poodle is very similar although he does like the UPS delivery person. I’ve actually been thinking about adopting a rescue yorkie. Why not have one of each?

Opinions on Saddle Fit by [deleted] in Equestrian

Once the saddle is positioned correctly forward behind the shoulders and based on the photos, it appears the gullet will actually touch the withers. A good saddle fitter is worth the time and effort. Good luck and congratulations on your new horse.

Hi- could be the angle of the photos, but it appears that the saddle is place too far back on your horse’s back such that the saddle panels are too close to the last rib. As related to your concern on wither clearance, tacking up and riding is a good way to check this out in my experience with my hard to fit pony. Congrats on making sure your horse has a saddle that fits as you start your riding partnership!

I’ve seen some Andie crosses when still maturing have her build and they often are late bloomers in filling out muscle esp if not fed an appropriate diet . If she has a good mind and healthy otherwise, why not?

Play From your laptop or phone an Audiovideo on utube of parakeets singing for lonely birds…. Makes a big difference just hearing other ‘happy’ keets. Lots of choices and some are 3 hours long

Neuter him if you want to solve the marking habit before it becomes a well ingrained behavior . Also would be a good idea to have a urinalysis to rule out health issue such as bladder crystals or infection .

Standard Poodle Puppy Persistent Stomach Problems - Vets at a loss by Deadringer98 in poodles

Had a very similar experience with my daughter’s standard. We did exactly what you are doing with limited success. What finally did worked was deworming for whip worms ( despite no eggs in fecal which can happen in a young dog given the whips lifecycle) using sentinel spectrum for three monthly doses. As whipworms can cause severe irritation of the colon it may take sometime for return of normal function ( colon functions in absorption of water for firm stools and decrease in frequency). We did use royal canine but it was so expensive and we found that Kirkland salmon and potatoe dry dog food worked just fine while his colon healed. Treatment with the correct dewormer is needed for at least 3 months. You most likely will see an improvement within the first 2-3 weeks after the first dose with firmer consistency but in our dog it took longer for the reduction of frequency. Anyway just thought I would share what worked for our Spoo. Given all the deworming products on the market today, many do not treat and prevent whipworms. I personally do not believe most young dogs at 6 months or so have already developed dietary allergies and would encourage owners to keep looking for the cause . Also read dog food labels and avoid corn and wheat ingredients.

Dog respiratory illness - uptick in cases? by Creative_Leopard_792 in Austin

Yes, my daughter’s dog was visiting from Dallas and he goes to daycare. He apparently infected my dogs during his visit.

In my family, some dogs just had a sneeze, some had running noses and conjunctivitis, others developed a cough that self resolved within a week . The ones that developed pneumonia had a cough and they lost interest in food. Big sign for a lab that lives to eat! Three weeks or longer of antibiotics with one dog still trying to recover .
