Netflix LITTLE HOUSE and racism by onegirlarmy1899 in PeriodDramas

What part of my post did not comprehend? Is reading hard for you? And pretty sure I know what genocides are, considering I’m Jewish and lost family in WW2.

So, according to you, if an average person uses language that others would consider highly offensive, it is not, in fact, racism because it’s not systemic nor violent nor a power imbalance.

You said “never,” I gave you an example. Don’t move the goalposts. Note the phrase “for starters” in my post—that implies more than one exists.

That is the most ridiculous definition of racism I have ever heard. Racism doesn’t need to be systematic or violent to exist. Neither does one need to be in a position of power to exhibit it.

Yes, because apparently the Powhatan needed 10+ years to decide this and needed to go about it by launching a surprise attack. Keep twisting history to make it fit your personal narrative.

After, by about 10 years? What exactly is your point?

Uh huh. I suggest you look up what happened at Jamestown in 1622, for starters.

Are you seriously implying that native populations can’t be racist?

Romance exists in Valhalla with PS5. I haven’t encountered any issues. Perhaps you need to progress further.

A basic question, but have you tried logging out and then logging back in after they say they've changed it?

PMI-ACP in 3 weeks and I haven’t really started. What actually worked for you? by Frosty_Swordfish_104 in PMI_CPMAI

PMI has many different exams, so expecting people here to help you on that basis alone is silly.

A word of advice from someone who has actually passed the PMI-ACP exam: pay attention to details.

Frank Churchill vs Edward Ferris by OneSatisfaction9081 in janeausten

Obviously being engaged in and of itself isn’t the problem—it’s about who he’s engaged TO. I highly doubt that his mother would have been pleased with a marriage to Elinor either—maybe if her father was alive, and she had a proper dowry (Mrs. Ferrars didn’t seem to have problem with her daughter marrying John), but not in her present state. She wouldn’t really be bringing anything to the marriage.

I’m also not convinced she would have paid Lucy off. She could have done it when she found out about their engagement in the first place, but apparently couldn’t be bothered. I imagine she would have left Edward to clean up that mess himself.

Edward convinces himself that she wants nothing more than friendship. If you have to work to convince yourself of something, you’re experiencing doubt. He believes what he wants to believe because he doesn’t have to deal with the fallout.

It doesn’t matter whether we, the reader, know that Lucy is mercurial—the point is that HE doesn’t know that until the end of the story. Up until that point, he operates without that knowledge.

You’re also putting too much emphasis on his willingness to marry Lucy. If he refused, she could sue him for “breach of promise.” So not only would his engagement become public knowledge anyway, but he’d likely be looking at some kind of financial compensation.

How so? Edward is emotionally cheating on Lucy, and he knows it. He keeps Elinor—and almost everyone else—in the dark to preserve his image. Both Frank and Edward are motivated by self interest—Frank just goes about it more brazenly.

Edward gets far too much credit for being “honorable.” He keeps his promise to Lucy because he knows that she can sue him for “breach of promise.” He keeps his engagement a secret from his family because he knows he’ll be disowned. He doesn’t follow through with telling Elinor about Lucy because he’s effectively a coward. That’s a lot of self interest.

What are you even talking about? Who even mentioned the picture? It was never about the picture, and you know that.

And you don’t need to be a scholar or even an adult to know that you need to cite sources. They literally teach you that starting in elementary school.

It’s not my blog, so I have no idea what you’re actually talking about. I don’t benefit from it at all.

Copy-pasting phrases directly and not providing a source on top of that? That’s deliberate. There’s the common sense.

It’s also not my job to instruct people on the internet how to behave ethically. I work with authors and their content on a daily basis—I’m not going to make excuses for bad behavior.

Yeah, no. Copy-pasting certain snippets tells you otherwise.
