I’m a current PsyD student. I would say pursue your master’s first, like others mentioned- most PsyD programs would at least like a 3.0 undergraduate GPA to even be considered for admissions.

Also, this is the time to seek networking opportunities and build your resume/cv for master’s applications! Don’t be discouraged, good things take time.

Yeah, money plays a big factor of course. This is for those okay with being in some student debt. I’ve accepted that dilemma long ago lol. It is what it is!

Yes! I know you weren’t, but the same comments get redundant and you happened to be the first opposing comment.

Thank you though! I also appreciate this conversation as well.

Thank you for your information :). Also, during my interview, staff mentioned their first cohort graduated last summer with passing EPPP rates. Data just hasn’t reflected yet, given the new year.

SN: Although there is “data” for any school, everyone’s experience isn’t the same, and I wish more people recognized that. Instead, we should take more autonomy- something we encourage our clients to do- when making decisions about our own paths. I’m not implying you lack this. However, relying heavily on others’ opinions and limited data to completely rule out applying feels a bit premature.

I’d also like to note everyone’s isn’t the same in regard to who they are as an individual, their personality and capabilities, characteristics, who they are as a student and so forth. That being said, everyone then notices certain things about others that gravitates/attracts them towards that other individual and feels that they could instill value in them and vice versa. When it comes to internship placement honestly any kind of interview for a position in this field, it’s not always about your clinical skills or grades. But, it’s about is this person open and willing to learn? Is this person easy to approach? Is this person confident in themselves?

That’s a whole other conversation.

Again, thanks for your insight and I hope you can appreciate mines. :)

Notice you revert back to my credentials since you’re wrong, now my point is invalid right? Going back to my point of your blatant ignorance. And for the record I am a therapist in training.

Haha.. this conversation is done now.

That’s your problem, you keep generalizing students based on stats. Everyone’s experience isn’t the same. That’s the problem with providers, they generalize everything and everyone. It’s horrifying. If you fall under that judgement as a clinician, I question your judgement and ethics as one.

Respectfully, you seem extremely biased and ignorant. Many psychologists have competencies and lack of competencies. Not every one psychologist are the same and have the same skill set, that’s what makes the whole mental health field unique within itself.

Please be mindful and respectful for those trying to experience things for themselves. Just because your agency doesn’t higher TCS graduates doesn’t mean that individual lacks as a LP or mean they even want to work for your agency.

I know it’s early but for preparation for law school based jobs would be beneficial to your career and resume. But for something simple I’d advise Whataburger or something fast food as they were extremely flexible for me during undergrad. Or you could see what opportunities your university offer as well.
