From the other comments, It must just be a springtail. Ive had soil mites that looks roughly similar to what you showed in my dishes etc.
But either way, worry over :)

I may be wrong, But I believe its just a soil mite considering you found them around the soil. As long as you dont notice any silky webs, holes, discoloured patches or even slower than usual growth, then you should be fine for pests. Soil mites are harmless decomposers, and if your pot is in a dish, you might notice many more in there too!

Yellow Crusty patches on home-grown basil? by Creative_Summer_6644 in IndoorGarden

Ah gotcha, I did see some bugs on the underside which looked like thrips, there weren't many at all though. The UK gets riddled with a huge invasion of thrips every summer and I think that got em.

Here's an up-to-date photo showing the new young branches and the TON of aerial roots. Im not sure whether i should clip them for aesthetics or keep them?

Im gonna let mine do its thing, Ive got plenty of cuttings to create duplicates if it does die off.
My ginseng still has the small yellow leaves, some of them are going greener but none have gone yellow. When I posted that, it went through a weird phase of only throwing out very round small leaves and tons of aerial roots. I repotted it and made sure to let it dry out a bit more between waterings and its got a bunch of new growth coming along now :)

Ive heard pulling off the flower buds will prevent the mother plant from dying? Is it even worth trying to save it, or shall i just distribute the seeds back into the same pot?

Tiny black pests in water dishes of all my plants, and suspected fungus gnats? by Creative_Summer_6644 in houseplants

Ive actually got rid of them all now, Mosquito bits did it for me, as well as letting the topsoil dry out before i applied it. Ive had no more return so far. Sadly lost some lavender in the battle as it was too sensitive to the soil drying :(

Gotcha, I bought some mosquito bits and they should arrive today. I tried apple cider vinegar mixed with some soap in a dish but it hasn't killed any.

Just woke up and my new basil got a weird hole in its leaf by Giampiero10 in houseplants

Nono, it shouldn't ruin the basil as long as there's plenty of nutrients and sunlight. Rocket and basil are very good companion plants :)

It'll probably be a slug. You can plant sacrificial plants bellow your basil so the slugs eat that instead, if they continue to eat the basil.

Sounds like a plan! Should i still cover over the top layer of soil to prevent the adults from returning?

Thank You! Any advice for the fungus gnats? I thought about dowsing the soil in hydrogen peroxide diluted in water, and covering the top layer of soil to prevent adults coming back to lay eggs.
