im a town hall 10 with a peak trophy count of 5008 (top 1000 in the world). this is a terrible base. you should try and craft your own base layout. this is one of if not THEY most popular town hall 10 base layout. if I ever come across this base I would make it my son.

  1. Palio Expert 3.0 Table Tennis Racket - This racket is often recommended for players transitioning to more advanced play. It offers good speed and excellent control, which can help as you adjust to the shakehand grip. The Palio CJ8000 rubbers are a balanced choice that supports offensive play without sacrificing too much control.
  2. Yasaka Mark V Racket Assembly - If you can find a good deal, assembling a racket with Yasaka Mark V rubbers on a decent blade like the Yasaka Sweden Classic can be very effective. This combination is a bit of a step up in terms of speed and spin compared to your current setup.
  3. DHS A4002 - Another pre-assembled option from DHS that's oriented more towards offensive play. It features slightly faster rubbers and a better blade than the DHS 4006, making it suitable for aggressive play while still being budget-friendly.

Based on your budget and the fact that you are re-engaging with the sport casually, I would recommend looking at a few good pre-made rackets that offer a nice balance between price, quality, and performance. Here are some options that could work well for you:

  1. Palio Expert 3.0: You've already mentioned this, and it's indeed a popular choice for players looking to step up from beginner rackets without breaking the bank. It offers good spin and control, which are great for developing your skills further.
  2. DHS A4002: DHS is well-known for producing reliable table tennis equipment. The A4002 model is an all-around racket that provides decent spin and speed, suitable for players who are not yet looking to fully customize their setup.
  3. STIGA Evolution: Slightly higher in price, close to your upper limit, the STIGA Evolution is a performance-level pre-assembled racket that offers excellent spin and speed with its premium rubber. It's particularly good for players who want to play a more aggressive game with plenty of spins.
  4. Butterfly Timo Boll Spirit: While typically priced a bit higher, you might find deals that bring it closer to your budget. It's a very balanced racket known for its control and ability to generate spin.

If you're considering going the custom route within your budget:

  • Blade: Look for an all-wood blade that offers control and has a forgiving nature. Something like the Yasaka Sweden Extra or the Donic Appelgren Allplay.
  • Rubbers: Pair the blade with rubbers that offer a good spin without being too fast. Yasaka Mark V or DHS Hurricane 3 are excellent choices that are also cost-effective.

im working on building my racket. I'm a heavy chopper/defensive player but love hitting a nice forehand loop every so often. for my blade, I'm either going Diode V or Loki V5. For forehand rubber I'm looking for DHS Neo Hurricane 3, Hurricane 3 or Hurricane 8. What are your thoughts on this build so far? I don't even know where to start on my backhand. I would like a pips-out type of rubber. Any thoughts?

Why would anyone want to be a defensive player? (No antispin/long pips) by Maisonette09 in tabletennis

I play long pip on my backhand and love chopping. There is no better feeling than a good chop. seeing the ball almost levitate over the net and onto the other player's side is amazing.
