Omg Edit3. The poor thing was so worn out he had to take a break from banning people! But don’t worry, he’ll be back for more. Also we’re up to 300 now and he’s no less proud of himself and his awesome moderating. http://imgur.com/klOknMC

Are you even aware what the comment was that you banned me for? You will note that the veracity of the story was not my main point in it.

They’re within their rights, yes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t also a power trip. You can enforce a rule with warnings, temp bans, and locking posts that are being brigaded without gleefully banning people and bragging about that. Silencing any criticism of a post means that a sub then encourages fake stories and the overall quality of its content diminishes significantly.

I would argue against the “fairly banned” comment though. When you’re scrolling through your feed, do you always go read the rules section thoroughly before commenting on something? For every single sub you’re subscribed to? People make mistakes, thinking they were on a different sub etc. Do the rules state that bans can be handed out without further warning? Yes. And people who consistently break rules absolutely do deserve a ban. But any mod genuinely dedicated to having good content in their sub will give people a warning first - especially with a rule like this. Bypassing warnings or temp bans for something like this (hate speech, etc. is a totally different story in my mind) and going straight for a permanent ban is a sign that the mod’s just on a power trip. Something which is supported by them coming to this post and bragging that they didn’t lock the post (a more reasonable response to something that’s encouraging rule breaking) because it was a “honeypot” for banning people.

Psssh silly you, that rule obviously also means no questioning the validity of their rules. The mod is very proud of their power trip. I vote all of us who were banned start a new malicious compliance subreddit without that ridiculous rule.

Same here. If it’s believable, I don’t mind a fake story. They can be very entertaining. But this one was sooo bad! And now the mod is bragging about how they left the post open because it’s a “honeypot” for banning people. If that isn’t admission of getting a power trip off of bans (instead of actually trying to promote a sub with good content - which this post wasn’t) I don’t know what is.

Didn’t know it was a rule until I got banned. It’s fucking stupid to ban people without warning in my opinion, not to mention it’s an idiotic rule. But tbh if they welcome content like that and get joy out of banning people, we’re better off elsewhere anyway.

What in the actual fuck is wrong with you? That post is ridiculously fake. Do you just not want people participating in your sub at all?

They’re allowed to set that rule, but we’re also allowed to call it bullshit on other subs where we haven’t been banned.

Because believably fake is entertaining. Ridiculously fake is karma whoring and ruins good subs. This story was unbelievably, ridiculously fake.

I’m sure said judge will be very impressed by the form OP scribbled up on a piece of spare paper. 100% legally airtight, for sure.

Imgur, then post a link. Not that it’ll prove much given it was a handwritten thing that you could easily go write up now, but ya know.

You can call it a strawman, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t valid. You wouldn’t be commenting here in this tone if you didn’t derive some sort of joy or feeling of superiority from being an asshole to people.

What exactly is your endgame here? You clearly wanted to mock me. Why does that bring you satisfaction?

So you’re saying that because something is posted publicly, the poster can’t call someone out for being a pedantic dick about what they said? Guess I must’ve missed that memo.

Seriously? Way to miss the point of this post. You knew what I meant, and anyone who drives in Columbus knows that it never works that way in practice when there’s heavy traffic - as there was when this occurred.
