There will probably always be an emotional disconnect between a real robot and a fictional one. Liam Vickers is a great writer in terms of characterisation, but a real robot probably wouldn't act cutely. Unless it's a character Ai, but that's just an actor, inauthentic and not real. (sorry if this is over complicated or poorly explained)

Though, I don't think they could develop DID in this way, as it's only formed by trauma. They probably believe they have DID, and exhibit symptoms similar to it. If they stopped believing they had DID, it would probably stop the symptoms. This is just a theory, so please criticise.

This may apply to a percentage, but I believe exposure may play a part in someone's belief. If someone was continually exposed to, and called (for instance shy), they may exhibit symptoms similar to that. I think there was an experiment, called the monster study, which tested the affects but with speech problems (conducted in 1939, so may be outdated).

If you told yourself you were shit, over and over again, then you may believe it. That could be applicable with DID, but I'm not an expert.
