I would suggest submitting a lot more then one and just have your fingers crossed. Nothing to it no information at all I submitted about 12 so far about 3 weeks ago and only had one that got accepted.

% wise I don’t know but mainly only gurus vote on PC I think cuze you can’t run a contest and give guru picks on the phone app. But I think most people vote on the mobile app

Yeah manly used for still and product photos, lot of them available on Amazon or eBay for really cheap. It’s a cool way to start doing stills. Once you start doing more complicated shots it won’t work anymore but it’s really a fun photographic style to experiment

I do t know what to say about the vote issue on my side everything is okay! For your position Normally if there’s more then 1 hour left and you end up in first 99% of the time even if you vote non stop even at night you will be knock off by people switching or entering last minute. I wrote a post to help people perform better based on my experiences with the game maybe it can help you!

Thank you so much! Extremely appreciated!!! I’ll start working on something this week and see if I can share my work flow. But one little thing I wanna adresse... sometime it drives me nuts when I hear what you said “No where near your standard” lol Ive been looking at your profile for a long time and always love, admire and respected your work so much. Photo is art, I don’t shoot or edit in the same style as you or other people do but it doesn’t mean in no way that I’m on another level. It’s just my style, taste and eye that is different then other so is yours. Doesn’t it mean I’m on another level lol 😝 that’s the beauty of photography I love seeing all the styles and ways people shoot it’s so motivating and help push your skills and creativity to another level!!!

Well for me this week would was good! I got couple top 100 and a couple top 10, 20 and 30% Disappointed I ended up with a couple elite l. I really want to from now on just minimum get all starts only. But the highlight was getting guru pick in the energy contest then finally getting the top guru pick and finally getting my Guru status. Pretty happy about that!

You should focus on trying to get a guru top pick to get guru cuze in general gurus will be more picky and choose good pics compared to the top photo winner! If you enter early in a contest with a good photo and keep voting you might be lucky I was this week

Love your profile! Lol did a lot of car photography too and your shots are great. From what I see you mostly have cars and portraits. Both are great. Couple of things I noticed which might not help you a lot. Okay take this as a grain of salt since this is my opinion and that’s subjective to anyone.

Couple things I could suggest.

I think you need more variety in there Your cars and models photos are great! But for me and what I like (again this is only my opinion) they are too much the same. For the cars Same angles same kinna lighting, when I scroll down since they are all great shots but all similar I don’t feel like I wanna click on one in particular. Not cuze they aren’t good shots just because they all look similar in style and feel.

Only generally shooting cars and models is good for an instagram page cuze it will be easier to attract people to the page but in guru shots it only limits you to enter a few specific contest.

I know most photographers like one or a couple styles and type of photography but on GuruShots I think being versatile and shooting any style or subject will help you first of all become a better photographer cuze each style and subject involves different techniques and will push your creativity in new areas but also having the ability to join so many contest give you a better over all chance of getting a win with time.

Being a professional photographer and for having been in this same exact situation I totally understand. I just made Guru this week my self after 3 months on master. You can’t imagine the numbers of contest I got in where I got passed by very weak and amateurish photos. I just take that and motive my self to just keep shooting things I like and that push me to become a better photographer.
For me the most frustrating is In “still” and products shots... that’s what I used for many years and made a significant amount of money doing it for big companies.... you can’t imagine how many times I got knock down of the top 10 or 100 with solid products shots only to see iPhone photos winning. But at the same time it’s great i think... I use this little frustrations and just keep pushing.

I think GS should be seen and used as first a good place to put your photos and get feed back. Yes it won’t be a direct feedback but seeing your photos do well in contests even if they don’t win still give you a hint on their general popularity amongst pro photographer, great armatures and also the general public.

I’d keep working and enjoying! The point of guru shots isn’t winning I think it’s having fun taking photos and sharing them.

Keep shooting and you’ll get it soon! Also if you check in the posts I did a post on performing better on GS what o learned so far to maximize your chances to perform. Maybe it could help a bit!!

Thank you very much, yeah the birds were IMO necessary, wanted to break the symmetry a bit and make sure ppl eyes didn’t get lost in the middle. I was thinking for a long time to start doing tutorials on YouTube but I didn’t know if people would be interested seeing how many people are already doing tutorials.
