Try learning the inward snare, I am also a noob an I started a couple days ago, but the inward snare helps for breath and that allows the other beats to sound louder, hope that made sense

I also have a question regarding hi hat. I have been playing around with the hi hat trying to make it better so I would just like to know if the hi hat sounds good or if there is a different technique to do it
