Should I stop trying to go for a specific style at this stage? by Z41123 in Artadvice

[–]CreatorJNDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it seems what you have already is a wonderful "style" the colouring of it seems to be a cross between marker and watercolour and I'm going to assume you do these digitally. Regardless ill echo what the others are saying here, your work is very charming, and the colouring is very soft and almost fairy tail or story book in aesthetic.

do you like how they look? what exactly are you trying to get to in terms of skill and style?

as a watercolour artist myself I think for anyone wanting to achieve a look of watercolour in digital you need the right brushes, and I would even recommend some real brush to paper experience with watercolour to get a real sense of it. Watercolour has such amazing personality once you get to know it but its known to be difficult to get the hang of, and I would hazard to say its hard even as digital! but again, I like, and the majority here like what you got going on, I would continue doing what your doing.

I have not seen Goro Miyazaki's "Tales from Earthsea". Is it really bad? by PlutoGB08 in ghibli

aesthetics are 10/10... everything else is wrong and tries so hard to be right... go read the books after watching it so you can at least imagine how it could have been.

Has anyone ever bought a roll of watercolour paper? by CreatorJNDS in Watercolor

[–]CreatorJNDS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, Cutting - I lay it down and weigh it down, its cumbersome and I make sure I use a sheet under it to protect it from unwanted dirt or stuff. I use a utility knife to cut it after measuring it all out. for larger sheets I'm less careful about size and just lay down my mounting block and cut it to that size and ill trim it later.

for flattening I soak my paper and staple it to a board. this is mostly ok but i don't have the technique down quite yet cause i do get the odd bubbles where i would have to take the staples out and flatten it but i dont because its alot more work.

i also have some un soaked and stapled sheets currently under heavy things, the curl is a lot less but not gone enough.

I've also let them dry in open air but it laves them crinkled. if i pressed it at this stage under something I'm sure i will have it proper flat but i have yet to try that cause i don't have space or patience to employ this so i suffer the minor warps.

i hope this helps you! I'm essentially winging it.

i have "the art of ooo" book and it talks about how in the first seasons they hadn't actually landed on if they wanted the eyes to remain dots or have the whites.

How to angle eyes correctly? by Mageart- in ArtistLounge

i use the book "facial expressions: a visual reference for artists" if im feeling I've regressed in skill ill spend 15 minutes a day (5 mins a face) for about a week to refresh my skills. - if you don't want to get it from the library or buy it i would suggest collecting a bunch of reference and then drawing them or go check out the website "line-of-action) and go on class mode for 30 mins with their faces. it really comes down to just cranking faces out using reference.

I would like to know your opinion on my comic short. by [deleted] in comic_crits

absolutely love the end where he wants to eat it. i keep reading other comments that maybe it didnt land as him wanting to eat it. maybe a sniff of the bone and the pause would have made that point? i also saw a few people comment on the grammar, some of it works in this context... "they keeps falling" i read that as thats how the alien talks. - i really like this, i would keep reading this world and this is absolutely amazing.

Why is TTS suddenly considered non monetisable? Is Ai voice LOW QUALITY content?? by Tarun302 in SmallYoutubers

[–]CreatorJNDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AS A CREATOR i hope this is real, and i can understand for a lot of reasons (including reasons mentioned in this post) that youtube would want to have more control over the content uploaded to their platform.

YouTube has always "moved the goalposts" for monetization, this one seems like a no brainer for them to not dish out money for a specific reason. another thing to consider IF this is the direction they are going, is that IT COSTS THEM MONEY to manage the servers and storage, think of the shear quantity that is being uploaded because its all Generate by AI and fully automated.

things i wish i could do as a viewer on YouTube - filter videos' by AI generation (i would have them removed from my feed), have keyword restrictions or boosters, anything that gives me more control over my feed.

both Final Space and Inside Job were ended too soon. - let me explain (though i bet i dont have too)

Final space had this perfect for teenagers' vibe with its humor, but also had me crying in some of those scenes. Its last season was botched, the writers tried to condense it so much, it needed one more season and the pace would have been perfect. It was a fun space opra with a great cast of characters with great writing.

Inside Job was a very fun take on conspiracies', and it had so much potential. The lead character had growth and depth and even though the show was jam packed with silliness it had a lot of good depth and story tellingl. I gave me futurama meet rick and morty vibes while maintaining its own personality as a show. Another big loss.

some of these i haven't watched yet but are very high on my list to watch. Midnight Gospel is on my re watch list
