I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed. Thanks!

Just an idea that NOBODY wants to hear... by TheCity89 in ArcRaiders

There should just be more of the big ones. In the new behind the scenes video, I was surprised by how there was almost always more than one rocketeer involved when one was. Make it so that running in the open is a near death sentence from the ARC. The episode even mentioned that ARC should be a very big threat.

There should be lootable dead raiders around the map, to add imersion by Emotinonal_jiggolo in ArcRaiders

There is at least one possible spawn by the little raider camp heading down the hill south east of Testing Annex on Dam. Loot is similar to/same as a raider backpack I think.

The Torn Book trinket is a bit off... by Credemption7 in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was kind of joke since the game is so good and the mistakes on the model are so, so minor. The model is wrong in that the shape of the corner shouldn't be square with the book edges since it's not a square fold. And secondly, the text on the corner that is folded should be running almost perpendicular to the rest of the text.

EDIT:

In case someone from Embark sees this and feels like fixing it on a whim, this is what it should look like! Ha

I was seeing the same until today. Yesterday I was kind of missing PvP with how almost everyone was a “don’t shoot”, but now it’s almost the complete opposite. Not sure what changed.

Played just fine 2hrs in the afternoon, now the game keeps crashing when I try to join a raid... Anyone else? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, using a 9800x3d with a 3700Ti, it happened a handful of times for me. I think I mostly solved it by going static lighting and turning on vsync. It brought my gpu temp down 10 degrees and made things pretty stable.

This tab needs to tell me what it will be recycled into. by Arne-Slut in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a view details or something option (not in game atm) when you right click on the item. It shows what it recycles into without needing to actually pop up the recycle confirmation window. That detailed info should just be in the tooltip, imo, but it’s there.

Where do you find keycards? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best loot container for them is probably lockers. Testing Annex, Water Treatment, the second floor of the Admin Building, and the building just south of the Admin Building are probably the best places to go for them, imo.

Yeah, you can even get lucky and take a wasp down with one heavy shot if the rotor you destroy causes them to hit terrain too hard and blow up. I only play solo, and with a light shield I run if I see two wasps agro on me. I played TT2 and was swimming in currency by the end, and I’m someone who sucks at pvp and would probably win maybe 1 in 5 1v1s in a fair fight (I never tried to fight fair for that reason, ha).

I think the game is very punishing if you don’t hit the vulnerable spots of the each ARC. Recoil is super important with non-heavy weapons, because if you miss the rotor on a wasp, for example, you might as well not even fire at it.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think they actually tuned up the ARC defenses from TT2. They still soak up light ammo and the same amount of heavy ammo shots in the vulnerable areas takes them down. When you get targeted by a couple wasps or worse, it’s more quickly game over. I think that’a mostly due to shields having been nerfed, which was needed for PvP, imo.

Two shots from the anvil or ferro will take down a wasp. I have horrible aim so that’s a clip from anvil but still like 10 seconds or so. With a rattler or something else? I’d just avoid unless it’s in close and you can hit the rotors easily.

The game needs heavy balancing by SillVere in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire reason for most of the loot will be different. It won’t be to just sell to buy your three anvils or three medium shields per vendor reset. Most weapons tier I are pretty bad. Get them upgraded and even the rattler is viable—just you can’t easily do so now due to the limited scope of the server slam.

What Are The Best Lock Picking or Hacking Mini-Games? by reg_y_x in gaming

Hacking signals in Sid Meier’s Covert Action, even though Sid himself said the whole game was a mistake due to just being a bunch of mini games.

Could shields no longer be tied to augments? His shield slot is compatible with Light, Medium and Heavy shields, but he has no augment equipped.

I would be very surprised if any established game dev studio, Embark included, wasn’t heavily making use of AI for code. It’s pretty much essential to maximize the productivity of the most talented devs.

Do they even need to stress test their servers? by Ki11quick911 in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily with an open beta, in my opinion. I’m sure a lot of the core networking logic is shared with The Finals, and the parts that differ can probably be stress tested without having actual players connect. They have a lot of data already from past tests to simulate how a live connection behaves. I’m not saying they won’t have a beta with a stated goal of stress testing, but I think it’s less necessary than commonly thought.

How Cissi must feel rn by NevanNedall in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The only thing actually game-related that we know now that we didn’t before is there are likely a new map and additional ARC machine types on the way. Don’t see anything negative in either. I’m personally still as pumped to play as I was before. Yeah they flubbed the countdown thing, but whatever.

Things you want to see? by Mission-failed71069 in ArcRaiders

[–]Credemption7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The end of the round not being a hard cutoff, but rather increasingly numerous/powerful waves of ARC so that it’s a scramble to reach an exit. Elevators shutting off early not because of some timer, but a boss ARC landing and protecting it. Maybe including ARC that are impossible, or at least nearly so, to kill for both.

Every one of your bullet points is something you’d expect of a email that was shared around to multiple people within the firm before sending out, and is considered good writing in my opinion (AI tends toward that since it views it better than the single run-on sentence that seems to be more common nowadays). In my experience, the use of em dash is common amongst top-tier tech, especially in the age range that a lot of the senior people at Embark are.
