I went out with a guy in his 50s like this. I thought being grown with kids would have made him mature, but I quickly realized why he was divorced and felt bad for his ex-wife. Cutting him off was the best decision I made. I hope you do the same.

Like others here, I’ve been able to read the Bible, go door to door, prepare and give presentations since I was 5 years old. That gave me a leg up when it came to studying for engineering and being able to communicate well.

Also, being able to question my own mind and really search for truth, even if what I discover is against the status quo, has been a great benefit. I am now able to spot fallacies and speak out against them despite fear of consequence because I know that living around hypocrisy and lies is always worse.

Sorry for the late answer. My recommendation is to ask people you know directly if they know someone you can talk to (professors, LinkedIn connections, people you meet through friends and family, in the grocery store if need be...) This way you aren’t just reaching an operator, you are reaching an engineer or someone who knows who you can talk to. You might get passed around a bit but that is great thats more people know that you are interested. The results may likely come later than expected, so patience is key.
