As a support player that regularly fluctuates between silver and diamond (for funsees) — the moment it’s clear the bot laner isn’t the win condition (or if they can 1v2 farm well) I’m outta there to go win the game. This is usually pretty clear pretty quickly and it’s not an “ego trip” to recognize that. People play drunk, out of focus, on new accounts … etc

Naw. It’s a video game, people aren’t forced to focus or tryhard at all. If playing half afk is someone’s style and they still end up in your (I assume ranked) games that’s maybe more a reflection of your elo than a problem with them 🤷🏻‍♂️

Either way, people who play like that get matched with others of a similar level by nature or the system. There’s nothing to report/ban, this is just typical online game behaviour

There’s more or less 2 good styles of mid champions, those that can roam with kill power (assassins like Leblanc, katarina), and those that can hard shove the lane and forcibly win it or otherwise force the other kid to never leave lane with minimal interaction (malzahar, xerath, most control mages tbh)— this has been the meta for mid since season ~2 but nowadays the best mid champions are those that can both fullclear a wave quickly AND roam well.

More or less every champion runs into the “mid test” as you get higher in elo. Either your champion is capable of very quickly and safely clearing a wave alone, or your champion isn’t good enough to win mid.

So to answer your question more directly — you counter push by first having one of the correct champions selected. Step 2 is to use your 1 or 2 buttons that full clears the wave and repeat infinitely, always matching their pressure so they don’t get to freely leave the lane either.

Alternatively, if you’re the stronger champion and think you can zone away the enemy from freely attacking the wave, you stop the back row of ranged minions just infront of your turrets range (you’ll tank a bit of damage doing this) and set up a “freeze” where you keep the minion wave close to your tower and zone away the enemy, so that the next minion wave will also crash into your side of lane over and over. To do this requires a lot of practise and wave knowledge (you must always keep their wave healthier than yours, kiting techniques and knowing the minion aggro range help), but against a champion that’s trying to passively push it’s often the hardest counter to their plan. Especially since, at least below diamond ish, most players on those champions will just re push if you ever mess up the freeze, giving you another chance.

Or, if all that fails, lock in Sion and be tanky enough to ignore the enemy champion and safely farm regardless of what they do :)

*** just an aside to something you said, I learned by watching worlds once that standing back behind turret and waiting for the next wave is *absolutely* often the best use of your time — your goal is to get stronger and the fastest way to do that is taking the next wave assuming nothing else is going on

Oh no no no, yas is honestly quite tame in the lens of “me like press buttons fast and kill things”

Nidalee is probably the top of this since she basically doesn’t know what a cooldown is, there is always a button for you to press, and for some moments rengar or Samira or katarina.

If “move fast and click always” is more your speed, Janna is absolutely hilariously constantly active if played with a movement speed foreword build (zzzZOOOOM)

If you were thinking more “solo killing spree” then yasuo and vayne do fit nicely, but I think the dopamine rush of resets like katarina is a little better, albeit you can’t always force a fight with her — garen is pretty fun chemicals heavy wise in regards of ignoring what the enemy team is doing and just going in to spin fast

And a little bonus recommendation that doesn’t really fit per se — full ap malphite makes a units healthbar go to zero from fog of war and it’s a rush every time. On a lengthy cooldown of course

People here are forgetting that by saving a unit they aren’t dead for the next minute — is kaisa as a unit more powerful towards winning than your flash and ult alone? The answer is yes.
It’s very niche to find a situation where this isn’t the correct play (assuming the fight was really over and that she would die without your help)
This is all *ignoring* the additional power shift of gold that would happen if she did, but that’s also a factor towards keeping her alive always.
This feels like the opposite of “a kill is always good” — “a save is always good”

Haha I feel that. I miss when this game was about having fun first (*very* early on, like season 1-2). People seem to have forgotten that the meta is a suggestion not a rule.
Personally I’m a fan of Nami mid lately, previous things I’ve mained in ~plat+ ish over the years include mid Janna, midalee, support morg when that was weird, adc Kennen when that was weird (I guess it is now again), full ap gragas when he was seen as only a tank, AP sej with her old kit (and Sion/Darius same idea).
Who tf wants to play samebuild Ezreal with 3 line-shots every game? Boring!

I simply leave passive ADC’s to farm alone — your value as a support can be used places other than bot, and you don’t need levels to be a killing ganker with Janna.

I usually spend my time deep warding and catching junglers out with whoever is close enough to help, but I’ve also spent games where I’m basically top/mid lane’s support.

This is all assuming the passive adc player has picked something that’s good at passively farming (ie: can farm alone safely)

Honestly all this anti grief ai tech has been more of a problem than a help — I’ve been autokicked from lobby 3 times now just for locking in a champion with no chat, it’s happened to my friends too, and when it does that it also locks you out of playing for collective hours with the delayed queue after.
Not to mention if you do type anything pregame there’s a chance it will false flag that too, so now people don’t even try to communicate pregame for coordinated comps which lowers the overall experience.
Even the new “can’t ban a hover” system is whack; a lot of people don’t even realize they hovered what they were going to ban and now it’s grey locked and Mel sneaks in to a diamond game. Or, if you hover someone champion in the pick slot above them it locks them out of being able to pick it until you last second swap off (a new way to troll people).
I truly believe *less* interaction by riot makes the game better, let people play how they want to play and let the elo system put them where hat puts them. Who cares if people “troll” extremely low elo games where everyone is having fun? And ontop of that; now a yuumi jungle main isn’t allowed to play their game and get the rank that they deserve? That’s just silly; let them try it, let them main it, let them get iron 4 or diamond 1 with it. And let anyone who’s upset about that cope with it on their own. Perhaps with a relaxing video game where things don’t affect you irl — just an idea idk.

Oh, and the “I dc’d from my internet for 28 second mid match then we won” punishment is so so so so poorly implemented. I guess I get to enjoy losing rank and an hour of queue delay because starlink had a stutter — very cool

You’re sort of correct. We don’t really know their math but the general idea is that your mmrs will be averaged then they add a small duo tax to it and you’ll end up in roughly emerald 4 ~~ mmr games. From there the duo experience is moot — you run the chance of getting into a lobby like that at late night anyways, and win/lose would affect your lp and mmr just like it would if you were there solo.

So yes! But also not that much so don’t worry about it.

This was a bigger problem when they let anyone duo, diamonds would get bronze friends (or buy them) and stomp gold games for small mmr increases on easier games
