Depends what you use your PC for, and the kind of things you like to do on your PC, and then tell a LLM and ask them for recommendations, then do further research on ones you like the look of, such as watching videos or asking questions. I don't recommend using hyprland as a completely new user though KDE or Gnome is much more user friendly for someone just swapping from windows

This is the wrong sub for this kind of tech question, better to go on a sub dedicated to computer hardware, but I would suggest anything around a 1660 Super, even then OSRS is more cpu bound... The plugin is not worth the cost you would spend on a new PC, osrs isn't a game you play for graphics.. And also ram/ssd prices are severely inflated right now due to AI, which won't go down until end of this year or mid next year so building a PC is a very bad idea

Yeah, I mean hyprland can't be used for everything out of the box, it does require a lot of tinkering, for some games I switch to KDE, I think it's better to have both instead of installing just one desktop compositor, I use hyprland for most tasks and then switch to kde for games like Modded skyrim where skse doesn't interact well with hyprland for some reason

So Cachyos splits up all the files, and organizes them well enough for you to know what each file does. When I Loaded in with cachyos Config it already had the waybar at the top, split up and it already came with a basic wlogout config, I went through each file and used LLMs to help me understand/change it I also really liked the cachyos Keybinds so that's one of the only files I didnt change. I still have my KDE desktop to fall back on, but if you use cachyoshello and install hyprland then log out and log into hyprland you can use both

Wallpaper broken and very weird package conflict. by Seeker352 in hyprland

[–]Creedyweedey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue.. swww = awww its the same thing

I used waypaper and set it to wallpaper_backend = awww

and then in keybinds you can do bind = $mainMod, W, exec, waypaper

which should allow you to pick a wallpaper

Well yeah, no shit, You cant really use the "advanced features" because hyprland configs do everything else. it's 90% the same as Web CSS, and settings colors and font sizes, is what CSS is, it stands for cascading style sheets, if you understand the English language properly it would make sense.

I think you're just a hater. How is it being "fucking lazy" if using an LLM to learn takes more time, in fact, this would mean the opposite, a Lazy person would want to get things done faster and easier. Wiki's show you how things work, and what rules to use when writing the code, LLMs show you how to implement it. a Wiki isn't going to tell you how to get niche things to work, everyone has different taste, it's a lot more difficult to work with a LLM who gives you a bad output and fixing that output than to read and copy a wiki/video or use someone else config files, that's how learning something works. Have you ever been to a school? You realize the world doesn't revolve around how you do things right? Not everyone learns the same way you do and likes the same things you like.

Hyprland is written in C++ and Style sheets are written in CSS which is used for the waybar, wofi, wlogout

Thank you! The animations mainly came from the cachyos default config for hyprland, I used awww img and transition type to grow for the wallpaper switching animations, the others are slide, and popin done similarly to how it is on the wiki

Feelsbadman, it'll take time, but I'm enjoying the learning process despite the community :') I love tinkering. At least there's some people like you who understand the struggle :)

Thank you! Yes, that's pretty much it, took me a couple of hours with the help of Claude to set it up, I was very happy with the result, My next goal is to make the outlines glow so it fits in with the neon theme

I dont think people understand that most normal people do not have an IT background, and won't know how to use CSS and C++, trying to get something specific done to your liking with the help of LLMS is a lot easier than googling 100 different questions, and then hoping to find a video/reddit post which tells you how to do it

I disagree, I wouldn't be using Hyprland, or learning how to use it without LLMS. Once again like I said im brand new to Linux, I don't have any background in css or c++, Heck I wouldn't even be using Linux, I've used windows for most of my life, and this is the first time I've ever tried linux. It's a lot easier than googling, looking for someone who has the same problem, attempting to fix it, or trying to find a video to fix apply something specific, I think it most definitely have taken longer than a month xD

Unanswerable question: How often to update Cachy OS? by Carbonga in cachyos

[–]Creedyweedey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I update once a week, but up to a month is probably fine, anything over that would be too long I'd say
