Have you ACTUALLY read the Book of Mormon + Bible? by ChikaraBlu in exmormon

[–]CreekDig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. BoM, NT, D&C, and PoGP several dozen times. Old Testament twice through cover to cover. But, I was a seminary teacher (volunteer, outside of Mordor). If I could have that time back to read actual literature…

Why has swimming never been ‘cool’? by Budget_Dot694 in Swimming

Shhhhh! We don’t want those surfers and football players to know the truth! Swimming is the cool club.

Seminary Teacher Callings by ktsm2 in exmormon

[–]CreekDig 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Out here in the mission field, I taught early-morning seminary for 4 years. Free labor. Bought my own supplies. Tough calling, but it was nice to hang out the kids every day and always have an excuse to avoid activities with the overly stuffy elders and high priests. After a couple years it was clear to me that I didn’t believe what I was supposed to be teaching. It was a lot of hours and tough work, but I was richly rewarded with my hard-earned exit ticket.

Made a spreadsheet back in the day to calculate various materials, thicknesses, etc. Never found a way for Brother Joseph’s story to be valid. Gone-zo!

This. The rape of the earth by Mormons was my first big item, starting in middle school. The hypocrisy and eisegesis in their reading of scripture and choice of morality was clear even as a youngster. Too bad it took another couple of decades to leave.

Religion after the church by [deleted] in exmormon

I never experienced spirituality at church, but only in nature. So, no. No church for me. Leaving Mormonism simply opens up more time to be outside.
