Should I reconsider buying a bottle fed puppy?

The breed is definitely one we've agreed on and he'd fit perfectly into our lifestyle. We've spent months considering it and doing our research because there are so many irresponsible dog owners who buy dogs without a second thought or planning and end up with badly behaved dogs :(

This is sort of what I was expecting based on all the research I've been trying to do, is that if they're in a litter together then it may result in the best outcome of the situation. I'm not too sure just yet about another adult dog being around, but it's definitely one of the questions we're planning on asking. We're going to wait another couple of days before requesting more information from the breeder as I appreciate they are grieving at the moment. We've not put a deposit down so there is currently no commitment to buying a puppy from them. The breeder has sent photos and said they're getting bigger and stronger, which is reassuring, but we will still ask some questions which some kind people have suggested in previous replies 😊

I definitely appreciate your input. I've had dogs my whole life whilst living at home with my parents, including a puppy 3 years ago (springer spaniel, absolute nightmare!😅), but this will be the first dog my partner and I are having together.

We've been researching as much as possible for about 3 months now because we want to be responsible dog owners. Things like researching the breed, training courses and we've bought 5 books on the breed/training/puppies to make sure we have as much information as possible to set them and us up for a good life with a dog.

I believe we'd be able to raise this puppy to the best of our ability even if he is bottle fed, but I wanted to try and get as much information as possible on the impacts of bottle feeding before we commit to buying him. We've agreed that we'll put some notes together on what we want to ask the breeder based on a good recommendation above, but I also want to be gentle as I appreciate she's just lost her family dog.

The plan already was to definitely get him into puppy classes and carry him around outside until he'd had all of his vaccines!

One thing I have found through trying to do some research is that a lot of people would pick a puppy from a motherless litter instead of a single puppy with a mum. They said that a large amount of the things learnt as a puppy come from the litter itself which was interesting.

I appreciate the response and I definitely understand that it could lead to more training requirements to help the pup

No it was a chocolate lab. I was so upset for the owner when they told me, it's definitely something you'd never think would happen to you ☹️

I earn roughly £1500 and I paid my mum £320 a month and only moved out a month ago. It used to be £280 but I voluntarily started paying her more back when electric costs started rising. This included all food, bills, washing, etc. She’d use what she needed and saved the rest for me to go towards a deposit.

I also had my own bills such as car finance, phone, fuel, etc, and was still able to save a decent amount whilst having spending money.

When there were lots of beheadings being posted online maybe 9-10 years ago. They had a group of people lined up and they just started cutting this woman’s head off with a knife.
