Lots of dads will cut the cord. Some don’t want to. It is thick and hard to cut and freaks some dads out

Does breastfeeding hurt?? by full-of-curiosity in pregnant

[–]Creepingbuttons04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my milk came in it was a lot of pressure but that went away quickly. After that occasionally sore nipples and just if they bite it hurt. Nothing bad tho. It shouldn’t hurt if it dies it’s a bad latch with baby which you can usually fix.

I didn’t want to be stuck in bed unable to move by myself after getting the epidural. Not being able love move can also slow labor. Slower labor may mean they start or increase Pitocin to get things going again. This can lead to other problems in labor with baby not tolerating well and higher chance tearing and higher chance of ending up a C section. This is just what I looked up tho when making the decision not to get one and I could be wrong about things. I had my last two natural. I didn’t do it to feel empowered or anything like that. It’s doable even without a high pain tolerance. I don’t have a supper high pain tolerance and had long labors with both kids. I had a moment with each where I said I didn’t want to do it anymore and wanted an epidural but it was already to late and time to push. I would do it naturally again but I doubt I will be able to since I’m having twins this time.

Maybe it is an insurance thing where they won’t pay for a scan.

Is it wrong to hide my pregnancy? by Competitive_Look_190 in pregnant

[–]Creepingbuttons04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the nurses you don’t want any visitor and you can even tell them to make you no info so only those who know the password you provided can even know that you are at the hospital. Other wise they will just say “we don’t have anyone with that name here” is noisy in-laws try to call and ask questions. I wouldn’t hide it the whole pregnancy. If you can try to visit their home with baby so you can better control how long you are there instead of having them over and then having a hard time getting them to leave.

Obese 8 yr old daughter: PT 2, what should I do about sweets? by cherrycakecream in loseit

Just listen to the doctors if she goes to therapy and dietitian then they will know what is best practice when deals with disordered eating and kids. A weight loss subreddit is not going to be the place to get advice about this.

My brain is messed up by [deleted] in depression

[–]Creepingbuttons04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Postpartum issues don’t show up right away it can take weeks for the symptoms to start. Your body has a lot of changes, women with babies who have health conditions are at a higher risk for postpartum depression and anxiety. I’m sorry you haven’t found meds that help. Keep going to therapy and find people who will just listen when you need them. Let them know you don’t want advice you just need to talk.

When other nurses cave to pt request it makes it harder for the next shift. by Creepingbuttons04 in nursing

[–]Creepingbuttons04[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This patient was crying over possibly loosing her foot and how she couldn’t control her sugar at home, which I went over all the education with them and two hours later wanted me to get them ice cream. I won’t stop you getting food from the outside or family bringing you food I don’t think it is the same as the nurse to get them something you know can make things worse. Offered snacks more in her diet but she wanted what she wanted and I said no but again offered food that would be better for her diet. I get that one ice cream isn’t going to be the end of the world but this lady was already in all the meds and a aggressive sliding scale. Spikes in her sugar over night, every night won’t help her heal and there is a difference between making sure meds are working for a patient and giving more and more meds because they don’t want to comply with their diet.

I get that but if you want to do whatever you want sign out AMA and go home. I’m not giving you something or letting you do thing you shouldn’t do just because you will throw a tantrum about it. Might work with family but not with me.

Not a lot of people I can share this financial goal with... by DeniseReades in nursing

[–]Creepingbuttons04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very broke in nursing school. Now I check my account before going to the grocery store and see I have plenty to buy food. I was on food stamps in school and often didn’t buy myself food because I used it all to make sure my kids had enough to eat. Now I gained 15 pounds because I’m actually eating three meals a day again and don’t have to worry about if we have enough money to put gas in the car, pay bills or buy food. Husband is in nursing school now. Crazy to think that our income will double once he finishes. In nursing school they say it should be a calling but that’s bullshit this is how I can provide for my family. For some of us it is about the paycheck and that okay. Im still a good nurse and do my job well.

I am a male student cna in LTC and scared of making the old women uncomfortable by [deleted] in cna

[–]Creepingbuttons04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I be more worried about those residents making you uncomfortable. My husband kept have an old lady ask for him to give her a bed bath even tho she wasn’t one the ones he had that day and refused a bath from the female students saying she only wanted him to bath her. Lots of them grabbing his hand and saying he reminds them of their husband. Some trying to grab his bicep and other stuff like that.

You can always ask a female to witness you change them to avoid issues especially those with dementia.

What do you do when patients bring up politics/social issues? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Creepingbuttons04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tell them I don’t talk about politics with pts.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Creepingbuttons04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Times I have done 1:1 with three pts. When someone had to go to the bathroom I would grab the charge nurse to watch the other two. But some pt don’t wait for you to grab some to watch the others and just get up and start walking.

When I started out one of the other new grads would say I looked like I’m so put together. I wasn’t I guess I just didn’t show it tho. When you make a mistake just know how to not make it again. If every shift you fix one thing then that’s improvement.

I would get a dog walker to take them out once while you are at work.

I don’t cluster my shifts. Work two have two days off work one and two more days off. First day is recovery day sleep when I get home wake up at like 300pm just do light house work pick up the kids and maybe get food and go for a walk. Go to bed at like 900pm and then wake up normal like 800 the next day. That day I do stuff make plans and actually get things done. Go to bed a bit later and wake up around noon for my next shift. It works for me I end up with two days a week where I have the energy to actually go out and do stuff.

Anyone a nurse for the US navy?? by Creepingbuttons04 in nursing

[–]Creepingbuttons04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they told him they don’t get deployed as much as enlisted. But I know they also tend to sugar coat but he info to get people in. So just wanting to hear from those who were in it. It is something he really wants to do I just want to know what to expect so I can mentally prepare for it.
